There is an old joke in which, two Jewish friends, after having been beaten and tortured, find themselves next to each other, lined up in front of a Cossack firing squad. The Cossack commander approached them in the traditional fashion to offer blindfolds. One of the men accepts the blindfold. The other rejects the blindfold and says, “I will see this all the way and if a miracle happens and I survive, I will bear witness to your depravity.” The other Jew looks over at his friend in horror and says, “Shhh, for God’s sake! You’ll make trouble for us!”
