At least three people killed at city festival
Dead and injured at the city festival! At around 9.45 p.m. a man in Solingen randomly stabbed passers-by with a knife. The perpetrator, according to witnesses an Arab-looking man, is on the run.

An unknown assailant has killed three people and seriously injured four more with a knife, according to police. The attack took place as the city of Solingen was celebrating its 650th anniversary.

Update – I have found a reference to the city celebrating it’s 650th anniversary which was themed as a “Festival of Diversity”
A “Festival of Diversity” began on Friday to mark the 650th anniversary of the city of Solingen. It was to last until Sunday. The announcement states: “Solingen Mitte will become a large festival mile: the celebrations will take place from Neumarkt to Fronhof and Mühlenplatz.” A program with music, cabaret, acrobatics, arts and crafts, entertainment for children and much more awaits visitors in the streets.
