So guess what I have been doing today …

My washer went on the fritz. The seal gave way and I ended up with a small pond in the laundry room.

We paid roughly $1600.00 bucks for the washer dryer combo maybe 10 or 12 years ago.

So I went appliance shopping yesterday. It was eye opening.

An LG combo was on sale so before taxes it was only a couple of hundred bucks more than the old set.

We had repairs done on both the old washer and the dryer to the tune of $400.00 each over the years. So it made sense to go with a new combo especially given the manufacturer changed the stackable mounting system and the dimensions of newer models so I can’t stack my old dryer on a new washer. Pity as it still works.

When we bought the old combo from Lowes the whole process was seamless, we paid for the product and arranged for installation of the new machines and disposal of the old for a reasonable additional fee. Easy peasy all done in one shot.

The government ruined that. The store can only drop off and unpack the washer & dryer, they will not mount it and they will not hook it up.

For that you have to call a 3rd party washer dryer installer.

So now I have to arrange two days for booking the elevator. One for the drop off, one for the installation and removal as it’s unlikely the stars will align and let it all get done in one shot.

I spent today unhooking the old combo, moving it into the hallway so the delivery guys have room to work and clearing out and cleaning the laundry room.

This was made all the more fun thanks to the now sodden kitty litter a certain feline has kicked under the washer.

Xavier will have to get used to his new litter box location until we can move it all back.

God I hate doing this stuff now.
