Glastonbury Festival saw its profits nearly double last year, newly filed accounts show, amid claims from Neil Young that the event has become a “corporate turn-off”.
Glastonbury, which is run by the Eavis family, posted a pre-tax profit of almost £6m in the year to March, up from £2.9m the previous year. Revenues rose from £57m to £68m, according to accounts filed at Companies House.
The new figures have come to light after Mr Young announced he would not be performing at this year’s festival in protest against what he claimed was “corporate control” of the event by the BBC.
