His inauguration day decision to hold off on potentially devastating 25-per-cent tariffs on Canadian imports came as a pleasant surprise, at least for a few hours. The loonie’s value popped on the news. So did energy, pipeline and railway stocks – sectors that had already priced in a profit-killing trade war.
