Golly Ghee Diversity! Six people have been arrested in connection with a Brampton investigation into stolen butter products valued at $60,000

Investigators from the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) have arrested and charged six individuals in a theft investigation in Brampton, according to Peel Regional Police (PRP).

This comes after, last December, the police service became aware of a significant increase in thefts of butter and ghee, a type of clarified butter, from grocery stores in Peel. Police say the stolen products were worth more than $60,000.

To combat the issue, police established Project Flaherty, and as a result, three people were charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, including:

Vishavjeet Singh, a 22-year-old man of no fixed address
Sukmander Singh, a 23-year-old man from Brampton
Dalwal Sidhu, a 28-year-old man from Brampton

Police also charged three other men with Theft Under $5,000, including:

Navdeep Chaudhary, a 22-year-old man from Brampton
Kamaldeep Singh, a 38-year-old man of no fixed address
Harkerat Singh, a 25-year-old man of no fixed address
