Selfie-seekers ‘fuelling rise in shark attacks’

Sharks are not naturally inclined to bite humans. But even the most patient predator has its limits — especially when being poked, prodded and posed by an overenthusiastic tourist intent on capturing a selfie.

A growing number of shark “attacks” can be blamed on social media influencers encouraging tourists to try to “stroke” them, scientists have said.
