Axel Rudakubana, the man jailed for the murder of three young girls in Southport, has attacked a prison guard inside the high-security prison where he is being held.
The 18-year-old is said to have thrown boiling water over a prison officer on Thursday afternoon, requiring the officer to go to hospital.
Police and the prison service are investigating the incident, including how he was able to access the scalding water.
