Update: Guys I bumped this post because people have questions or personal stories and hopefully we can all learn something.
What did I do today?
I got older.
Or maybe just a bit more adult.
I went to Costco.
I bought something I have needed for a long time.
Something Kathy had asked that I do many times.
I bought hearing aids.
The audiologist ran a battery of tests and things turned out pretty much as they did when the army deemed me not fit for service due to hearing loss away back in the late 70’s.
I have high tonal frequency loss but low tones fall within normal range.
The right ear is significantly better than the left as I have always known.
When people address me from the left at a normal conversational level it is not uncommon for me to not hear them at all.
Crowded rooms with background noise meant nodding in agreement to whatever I imagined was said.
Not a good way to make friends.
I tried 3 brands, the Phillips, Jabra and Rexton models.
I preferred the Rextons for their clarity and less feedback.
Though I am told the feedback issue “disappears” as you become used to them.
They are the over the ear style and the bud when inserted in the ear canal is barely noticeable.
The cost was much better than anticipated, in fact it was half of what I had feared.
Plus the repair and replacement warranty is pretty good.
Thanks for listening!
