President Macron and his wife, Brigitte, have started libel proceedings in the United States against a right-wing influencer who has promoted the conspiracy theory that the French first lady was born a man.
The Macrons filed a suit in a Delaware court on Wednesday against Candace Owens, a 36-year-old American influencer and podcaster. Owens began promoting the claim that Mrs Macron was transgender on her YouTube channel, which has four million subscribers, in January.
