As a student of history, I am struck by the rise and fall of civilizations on this small celestial body we call Earth. Empires have come and gone. Kingdoms have risen in confidence and collapsed in corruption. And today, whether we care to admit it or not, we stand at the edge of the possible unravelling of what may well be the greatest civilization humanity has ever produced: the modern West.
