There’s more than one brutal theocracy the free world should worry about
In a dim corner of the University of Toronto’s Newman Chapel, there is a stained-glass image of Archbishop Óscar Romero of El Salvador. Proclaimed a saint in 2015, Romero is depicted holding a child while a military helicopter rains fire in the background.
After speaking out against the political murders, torture and massacres perpetrated by the Salvadorean military, Romero addressed members of the armed forces on March 23, 1980.
The author is a “professor of religion and environment at the University of Toronto Mississauga.”
Does that mean he worships Water Sprites?
