French officers raid importers of banned El Mordjene spread – the Muslim rival to the Infidel’s Nutella

El Mordjene the contraband Muslim Nutella

The delicacy is being sold on the black market in France. Some think the ban is an attempt to ‘keep down’ the country’s Muslim immigrants

Customs agents in Marseilles were jubilant when they pried open a shipping container to find nine tonnes of contraband substance.

The illicit goods were not, however, drugs or cigarettes, but 15,300 jars of sticky hazelnut spread.

The port seizure in May was part of a campaign by the authorities to bar El Mordjene, a sweet Algerian spread that enjoyed explosive success last year thanks to a craze propelled by TikTok and Instagram.

Iranians in Canada reeling as Israel’s fatal attacks reverberate through diaspora

Mona Ghassemi, president of the Iranian Canadian Congress, was at home in Montreal when she first heard about the Israeli strikes in Iran early Friday. She called her mother, learning her aunt and cousin in Iran awakened to the sounds of nearby missile blasts but were unharmed.

“Residential buildings were hit, and there were children among the killed. So this, of course, is very devastating,” Ms. Ghassemi said.

The Israeli military attack is reverberating 10,000 kilometres away as the Iranian diaspora in Canada reels from the sudden escalation of a long-simmering conflict.

I once embraced the Zionist dream. Now I’m protesting the genocide in Gaza on the streets of Toronto says Michele Landsberg

I grew up swathed in antisemitism in 1940s Toronto. We Jewish kids on the block knew which stores we shouldn’t enter, which areas of Toronto were dangerous (Beaches!), how to defend ourselves in the schoolyard around Christmas and Easter, when our ears burned at the taunt of “Jews killed Jesus!” We cowered … as a tiny minority in our public school … when the principal threatened us with the strap for not praying to Jesus, and when the music teacher told us that Jewish students were not allowed to sing in his class. We had to mouth the words.

If Israel were to cease to exist would the Mohammedans suddenly become peaceful Jew loving neighbors?

Britain is turning into a Third World country

It was little things that made me fall in love with Britain. You didn’t have to count your change in shops. You almost never saw private security guards. You could drink from the tap. You could flick a switch and the light would actually come on.

You could get into a taxi, confident, not only that you wouldn’t be mugged, but that you’d be driven by the shortest route and charged the correct fare. If you stopped at a red light, you would not have every car behind you hooting in fury. You could send valuables by post.

Arriving as a seven-year-old from Peru, I felt a glow of wonder at these things that, even now, has not entirely left me. I thought then, and I still think, that people who have grown up in this country are unconscionably blasé about what made it special.

Donald Trump is not the only threat facing the G7

If you remember anything at all about last year’s Group of Seven summit, chances are it involves neither the location of the annual gathering of the leaders of the world’s advanced industrialized democracies nor the contents of the meeting’s final communiqué.

Coverage of the summit held in Italy’s Apulia region was dominated by viral videos that appeared to show then U.S. president Joe Biden wandering off as other G7 leaders watched a skydiving demonstration. The videos were dismissed at the time by Mr. Biden’s press secretary as “cheap fakes.” But they would end up playing a role in the 46th U.S. president’s downfall. Only days after the summit, Mr. Biden delivered the catastrophic debate performance against Donald Trump that would lead to his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race.

Are Chinese robots in the West a trojan horse?

Spurred by Donald Trump’s push for industrial reshoring, Chinese robot manufacturers are aiming to enter into the American market.

Produced in large numbers and at relatively low cost by Chinese firms, these industrial robots would first take on menial logistics tasks, potentially paving the way for more advanced humanoid successors.

But this influx of Chinese robots might come with a catch: the harvesting of factories’ sensitive data. So warned a rival American executive, who said this week that high-end industrial robots are able to collect “massive amounts” of data and intellectual property. Daniel Diez, the chief business officer of Agility Robotics, warned that a walking robot equipped with depth-sensitive cameras would pose enough of a privacy risk that American and European buyers might reject them.

Trump is ‘a showman before he’s a statesman’: former PM Joe Clark on annexation threats

Amid the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and Canada, Canadians should bear in mind that U.S. President Donald Trump is “a showman before he’s a statesman,” former prime minister Joe Clark says.

The leaders of the world’s most advanced economies are descending on Kananaskis, Alta. for the G7 summit this week, with Trump expected to attend.

Ahead of the gathering in Alberta, CTV Question Period host Vassy Kapelos asked Clark what’s been going through his mind in recent months as Trump has levied sweeping tariffs and frequently threatened to annex Canada.

Joe Who? Oh yea I remember that guy.

Pilot Who Flew Same Doomed Plane Describes Catastrophic Human Errors That May Have Downed Flight 171

A pilot who regularly captained the same Air India Boeing 787 that crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday, killing all but one of the 242 people on board, has theorized what could have caused the fatal incident.

Speaking to the Indian news service NDTV, Captain Rakesh Rai said that his analysis of the video footage of the plane during takeoff suggests something went wrong as the plane climbed to an altitude of 400 to 500 feet.

“Here, what you see is the undercarriage has not been retracted at all,” Rai said. “That raises a lot of questions.”

This is interesting and based on the original clearer footage.

First Nations are mired in ‘soft communism.’ This leader has the fix

Stephen Buffalo is a very constructive guy. He’s a man who seeks solutions, and he’s open to Prime Minister Mark Carney’s ambitious nation-building campaign. He also wants Carney and all Canadians to understand, though: Indigenous consent to these projects has a price tag.

“Give us a chance to make our own wealth,” says Stephen, long-time advocate for First Nations’ economic development and member of the Samson Cree Nation from Maskwacis, Alta.

One church burned every WEEK in ‘alarming’ campaign of anti-Christian attacks – ‘You’re dead if you’re found out’

One church is being burned every week in the Muslim world in an “alarming” campaign of Christian persecution, a British charity has warned.

More than 85,000 Christians were targeted in the last year alone, according to Help the Persecuted (HTP), while places of worship are torched “on a weekly basis”.

The charity operates in 15 Islamic countries hostile to Christians, deploying indigenous field teams who understand local political and religious climates to help them find safety.

Hate Crime: School district forced to explain after speculation it told teachers the word ‘family’ is racist

There’s a lot of drama associated with this “family.”

After a year and a half of speculation that teachers in Canada’s Waterloo Region District, just outside of Toronto, were being taught the word “family” is racist, its school board was forced to come clean this month.

The controversy began in November 2023, when the district offered a professional development presentation titled “Dismantling Whiteness at W-O: Words Matter,” according to the CBC.

Reports earlier this month on the training included screen grabs from the presentation highlighting the word “family,” followed by an explanation claiming the word is “identified as harmful by our racialized students” and “values positions of (male) authority and hierarchy.”

Parents have to file Hate Crime complaints.

Data Dive with Nik Nanos: The West is angry

The spectre of Alberta separation is on the horizon. The path to independence is clear. The separatist offramp back to Canada’s federation is trickier.

Western alienation and disenchantment with Ottawa are long-standing and part of Alberta’s political DNA. Right now, the mood in the West is quite ugly. Ask people that live in the Prairie provinces the emotions they feel when they think of the federal government – anger tops the list at 35 per cent followed by pessimism at 26 per cent. Feelings of anger and pessimism towards Ottawa are the most intense in the Prairies, outstripping every other region of the country.

Protesters march through London waving Iranian flags and chanting ‘stop bombing Iran’

Thousands of pro-Palestine demonstrators waved Iranian flags as they marched through central London on Saturday demanding an immediate end to Israeli air strikes on the Islamic fundamentalist republic amid rising fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East. Crowds gathered in Parliament Square, chanting “stop bombing Iran” and calling on the UK Government to end all military support for Israel.
