COVID-19 on My Mind

Like most of us, I suppose, the shock to our system and way of life during the government’s response to COVID-19 cannot easily be forgotten. It was our taste of ill-considered government tyranny, a public-health disaster. As more information about its origins and how the disease was handled is revealed, it always gets my attention. In sum, banking on helping defeat Trump, the public-health establishment and media suppressed more credible options for dealing with a disease which was not life-threatening to most in order to promote a vaccine then in the works. The vaccine when it was developed and administered was not terribly effective and has itself caused substantial injury. In the process of locking the country down, the health establishment and government caused the very deleterious effects which the signatories of the Great Barrington Declaration had warned against. Those opposing less tyrannical treatment of COVID-19 included Dr. Anthony Fauci, whose role in creating COVID-19 is no longer deniable.

Mark Carney could tear Canada apart

New separatist movements threaten to rain on the Liberals’ parade.

In an election that seemed all but guaranteed to land Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives in government, Canada instead re-elected Mark Carney’s Liberal Party for another four years. Carney, former governor of the Bank of England, first became Canadian prime minister in March, taking over from the scandal-mired Justin Trudeau. The increasingly unpopular Liberals were set to be overthrown by the populist-leaning Poilievre, until US president Donald Trump’s threats to annex the country. This derailed the national discourse and caused liberal-left voters to rally behind Carney.

Denmark has cut asylum claims by 90% by banning the burkha and refusing benefits to migrants who don’t learn their language

Two bullet holes from the bad old days still scar the black metal doorway of Ishmail Schbaita’s busy corner shop in Copenhagen.

The migrant gangster who haphazardly fired the shots from a 9mm pistol during a drugs turf war has long disappeared from this once-dangerous suburb of Norrebro in the Danish capital.

He was deported as Denmark cracked down on rising crime caused, to a large degree, by the uncontrolled wave of 1.3 million migrants, which swept into Europe ten years ago, changing the face of the Continent for ever.

‘Luigi The Musical’ Praises United Healthcare CEO’s Killer As ‘Folk Hero’

Murdering a father in cold blood not only gets you rewarded with nearly $1 million fundraised by a fan base of shrieking 20-year-old women, but you’ll also get your own musical!

San Francisco’s leftist theatre types are performing a “comedy” that lionizes Luigi Mangione as a “folk hero” for shooting UnitedHealthcare’s CEO fatally in the back.

Low turnout in ‘most important election’ sparks call for democratic reform

Despite being dubbed “the most important election of our lifetime,” one in three eligible voters chose not to cast a ballot in Canada’s recent federal election, prompting Democracy Watch to call for urgent reforms to strengthen democracy and increase voter engagement.

The watchdog group released a statement highlighting that the newly elected Mark Carney-led Liberal government secured 49% of the seats in the House of Commons with the support of just 30% of eligible voters.

Star hopes Carney will destroy economy with Net Zero Lunacy

Mark Carney championed this cause before he ran for office. What will he do now that he’s in power?

The brutal truth about our planet is hard to hear.

“The challenges currently posed by climate change pale in significance compared to what might come. … Climate change will threaten financial resilience and longer term prosperity. While there’s still time to act, the window is finite and it’s closing.”

This quote was not uttered by David Suzuki or put out by Greenpeace or even included in a report by the International Panel on Climate Change.
They’re words spoken by Prime Minister Mark Carney — 10 years ago when he was governor of the Bank of England.

A Liberal Sociologist Offers Thoughts on Gun Culture and It’s Not What You’d Expect

Yes, there are liberal gun owners. There are liberal gun rights advocates, even.

However, we all know they’re the exception, not the norm.

Further, when we hear about a sociologist, we kind of have to brace a bit. The social sciences are heavily anti-gun, so when someone who is a sociologist offers up thoughts about gun culture, we–or, at least, I–tend to have certain expectations about what I’m going to read.

Trump’s Mysterious Support of Canada’s Liberals

There is an old adage that in politics as in life timing is everything. That is why pundits often talk about such things as the importance of “momentum” and the necessity of not “peaking too early.” In March 2012 when President Obama was running for his second term he got caught on a hot mic in Seoul, South Korea asking then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to reassure Vladimir Putin, “After my election I have more flexibility.… On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space.… This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility.”

GUNTER: Pierre Poilievre in strong position, despite Conservative infighting

Pierre Poilievre was far from faultless in losing his own Carleton seat in the Ottawa suburbs — a seat he had held for nearly 21 years, through six federal elections.

Leaders can’t take their own seats for granted, or at least their local organizers can’t. They have to develop a sense for when there is a voter uprising forming and warn the leader that he or she has to return home more often from cross-country campaigning.

‘These people are disposable’: how Russia is using online recruits for a campaign of sabotage in Europe

Moscow’s intelligence services have launched a new type of attack on the west, violent but piecemeal and hard to prove

Serhiy was just about to board a coach bound for Germany when Polish security services detained him at the bus station in the city of Wrocław.

In his backpack, the officers found firelighter cubes, a juice bottle filled with paraffin, a lighter, two pocket knives, a mini handsaw and a face mask. Later, when they searched the mobile phone of the 49-year-old Ukrainian refugee, they found a pdf of a Russian-language book called Modern Pyrotechnics. It contained detailed instructions on how to start fires and detonate explosives.

Serhiy S – as he is identified in accordance with Polish law on naming criminal suspects – is one of dozens of people who have been rounded up across Europe over the past two years and accused of being foot soldiers in a new front of Russia’s war against the west.

The Fantasy of a World Without Police

The “defund the police” movement had its moment during the Black Lives Matter fervor of 2020. But even then, mainstream politicians distanced themselves from its rhetoric, and four-fifths of black Americans told Gallup they wanted to see the same or even more police presence where they lived. Over the next few years, voters in blue areas rejected defund-style ideas at the ballot box, while Democratic leaders worried that the party’s anti-police fringe would undermine its electoral coalition.

Three quarters of Canadians say misinformation affected the federal election: poll

OTTAWA – More than three quarters of Canadians believe misinformation had an impact on the outcome of the federal election, a new poll suggests.

The Leger poll, which sampled more than 1,500 Canadian adults from April 29 to May 1, suggests that 19 per cent of people think false information or misinformation had a major impact on the election.

Almost a third (32 per cent) said it had a moderate impact, while 26 per cent said it had a minor impact on the election’s outcome.

Our gov’t bought media wants to talk to us about disinformation. Sounds legit.

‘I Saw You Come Out of the Church’: The Persecution of Christians, March 2025

“Our imam had assured us that when you kill a kafir [infidel], Allah rewards one with a Jannah [paradise]… so I wanted to get that Jannah.” — Hanifa Hamiyat, a Muslim woman who poisoned and killed three people: a young Christian couple, as well as her own 18-year-old daughter, who accidentally ate the same poisoned food the Muslim woman had offered to the Christians; Morning Star News, March 28, 2025, Uganda.
