You got a licence for that?

This week, UK prime minister Keir Starmer pledged to make communities safer by putting more police officers on the streets at certain times of day. This forms part of the Labour government’s wider plan to intervene more forcefully in community life, including bringing in so-called Respect Orders to clamp down on the ever more broadly defined category of ‘anti-social behaviour’.

Canada’s New Prime Minister Is as Dishonest as the Old One

After enduring ten years of the far-left misrule of the vapid and eternally callow Justin Trudeau, Canada has a new prime minister, but not any new ideas or any change of direction at the top: the new boss, Mark Carney, is the same as the old boss, a shallow leftist ideologue without an original thought in his entire sorry cerebellum, which is filled instead with the usual talking points of the leftist establishment that still wields power in much of the Western world.

A little truth about Islam …

The Taliban leader says executions are part of Islam

The Taliban leader said executions were part of Islam , days after four men were killed by gunfire in Afghanistan after they were convicted of murder.

The executions took place in sports stadiums Friday, the highest number known to have been carried out in one day since the Taliban returned to power in 2021 . Rights groups and the U.N. condemned the killings.

Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada has previously rejected the need for Western laws in Afghanistan.

What’s happened to the white working class?

They’ve been derided as losers, hoodies and chavs. In Underdogs, the journalist Joel Budd travels across Britain to find out what the working classes really think

The biggest lie told about members of Britain’s middle class — and I speak here with all the dubious authority derived from belonging to that doomed tribe — is that we do not think or talk or agonise about what is now called “the white working class”.

Overlooked? Ignored? Rubbish. The middle classes have both feared the revolutionary potential, envied the apparent lawlessness and yearned for a dusting of the hard-won authenticity of this country’s white working class for almost as long as there has been a printing press.

The Liberals’ margin of error on polls

This week, supporters of the Conservative Party showed up at campaign event in Brampton, Ont., sporting T-shirts and carrying banners that read, “Do you believe the polls?” The next day, reporters were asking Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre if he believes the polls – and whether he would accept the outcome of the election on April 28.

Mr. Poilievre had an unambiguous response. “Yes,” he said. That is the right one-word answer, with no following ifs, ands or buts.

Puts the slanderous Carney in his place.

I sense there may exist a silent support for Poilievre that the pollsters are missing. As with Trump support they see no need to go public.

President Donald J. Trump Is About to ‘Roll’ the Communist Chinese

History’s great Benjamin Franklin is credited with saying, “Nothing is certain except death and taxes.”

I would paraphrase Franklin’s wise words with this update: “Nothing is certain except these people always being wrong: former Congressman Joe Walsh…MSNBC’s prince of darkness Lawrence O’Donnell…and virtually any cast member on The View.”

I wonder what the US knows about Carney and the Liberal Party’s collusion with Red China.

It likely explains the lack of tariff relief that other nations currently enjoy.

Conrad Black: A Mark Carney win would be a disaster for Canada

Canada is perilously close to the greatest electoral disaster in its history. A Liberal victory would commit the country to the deliberate pursuit of comparative poverty to reduce Canada’s minimal contribution to the fear of a rise in the world’s temperature due to carbon use. This is insane and must not happen.

Liberals’ lead could change if domestic concerns surpass U.S. tensions, says pundits, pollster

The Liberals have been boosted in the polls because of public concern about how Canada should deal with the United States, but a shift in focus to more domestic policy issues could make the outcome of the election much harder to predict, say lobbyists and pundits.

“The way I see it is, these last two weeks have been marred and had the cloud of [U.S. President Donald] Trump hanging over the election, and I would argue that the rubber hasn’t hit the road yet,” said Andrea Sarkic, a public affairs counsellor for Compass Rose Group and a former Conservative staffer.

Crescent rising over Russia: the numbers that keep Putin awake

Canadian director Denys Arcand’s film “The Decline of the American” Empire opens with a professor, played by Rémy Girard, telling his students: “Three things are important in history: numbers, numbers, and numbers again”.

Khomeini knew about numbers and in 1989 he wrote a letter to Communist Party Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev in which the ayatollah invited the Soviet leader to embrace Islam to “fill the void in your system.”

The Soviet Union fell, Khomeini and Gorbachev died, but that letter seems to have found its way thanks to numbers.

Butler Resident Charged With Threatening to Murder Trump

The Trump hate train continues to go off the rails.

Today, 32-year-old Shawn Monper was charged by the Department of Justice for making threats to assault and murder President Donald Trump, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, and other U.S. officials.

Monper is a Butler, Pennsylvania resident — the same place where an attempt was made to kill President Trump while on the campaign trail last year in July.

Canada is more conservative than politicians think

Finally, some good news for Canada’s Conservative party. For the first time since the federal election was announced, a poll last week showed them in the lead, and polls over the weekend show them closing in on the Liberal party. They’re not where they were, but it’s progress.

In early January, the much-loathed Trudeau was stepping down, both Liberals and the New Democrats were highly unpopular, and the Conservatives, with a no-nonsense economic platform were considered a shoo-in for the next election.

Trump’s Tariff Fire Works

Despite the great deal of sound and fury that it has generated, it is perhaps too early to assess the lasting impact of President Donald Trump’s latest fireworks on tariffs.

Some things, however, are certain.

Contrary to assertions by talking heads on the small screen, we are not heading for a global trade war.

True, the US is the world’s biggest economy and ranks second as a trading power. But its share of world trade hovers around 12 percent, or under 10 percent of its GDP. The remaining 88 percent of world trade by 192 nations won’t be immediately affected.
