Police, camera… in-action! Officers are slammed after CCTV catches them sitting in woman’s front room watching TV and using her dumbbells for four hours – after 999 call to her home

A woman has slammed police officers for watching Netflix and lifting dumbbells in her home for almost four hours after they were told to ‘chill’ while she was missing in the woods.

Abbygail Lawton, 21, from Wigan, was in the midst of a mental health crisis when ambulance services raised the alarm about her welfare, calling in the police for backup.

Greater Manchester Police officers searched her home to confirm the young woman was not there before making themselves comfy, sitting on her sofa with their feet up while scrolling through Ms Lawton’s TV trying to find a series of Come Dine with Me to watch.

Academia’s Double Standard on Rape

Why aren’t the students and professors who demand trigger warnings for discussions of rape in literature at the forefront of those denouncing Hamas’s atrocities?

About ten years ago, when I was a young assistant professor at Bryn Mawr College and new to academia, I was taken by surprise when one of my students complained about an assigned text—Ovid’s Metamorphoses. Specifically, her concern was about Ovid’s lack of sensitivity on the subject of rape. The Metamorphoses is a poetic compendium of ancient Greek and Roman myths; one of its common motifs is male gods erotically pursuing females. I was particularly surprised by the student’s comment because Ovid’s elegant and witty text is remarkably sympathetic to the female characters. But I knew that Mawrters are famous for the intensity of their beliefs; it makes sense for students at a women’s college to feel so strongly about violence against women.

Ford Says Ontario Will Not Change Gender Identity Policies, Including in Schools, as Alberta Did

Ontario Premier Doug Ford says the province won’t be making gender identity policy changes similar to Alberta’s.

While his government has already said it would not follow Alberta’s announced restrictions on medical transitioning for minors, his office confirmed he is also ruling out Alberta’s other measures, such as requiring schools to inform parents about pronoun and name changes at school.

What a jackass.

Biden or Trump? During Washington visit, Alberta premier says, ‘There’s challenges with both’

If the premier of Alberta has a preference in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, she’s not sharing it publicly.

At a news conference during a trip to Washington, D.C., Danielle Smith pointed to different difficulties in dealing with either a Democrat or a Republican.

When asked whether Joe Biden or Donald Trump would be better for her province, she replied: “I think there’s challenges with both.”

Both candidates have protectionist policies, Smith said.

She’ll hate Biden More.

Three Canadians taken by Israel in Gaza, says relative, decrying Ottawa’s response

The family of three Canadian men says they were taken from their home in the Gaza Strip during an overnight raid by Israeli forces, as Ottawa confirms it is aware of reports that a citizen has gone missing.

Yasmeen Elagha told The Canadian Press from Chicago that her uncle and two American-born cousins are missing.

Ahmed Alagha was born in Canada, Ms. Elagha said, and lived in Toronto with his American-born sons Borak, 18, and Hashem, 20, before they moved to Gaza in the mid-2000s.

Belleville, Ont., declares state of emergency after rash of drug overdoses

The southeastern Ontario city of Belleville has declared a state of emergency after a rash of overdoses over a 24-hour period that prompted warnings from police this week.

Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis says the declaration on behalf of city council was made because of the growing addiction, mental health and homelessness crisis in the city and its impact on emergency services.

Ellis says municipal services are close to a breaking point and he is calling for support from provincial and federal governments.

All of Canada is suffering a death of despair under the Trudeau government.

Hur report portrays Biden as ‘elderly man’ with ‘poor memory’

Special counsel Robert Hur‘s report on his 15-month investigation into President Joe Biden‘s mishandling of classified documents includes damning assessments of the president’s mental acuity amid concerns about his age before November’s election.

In his nearly 400-page report, Hur provides details regarding his decision not to prosecute Biden criminally, unlike former President Donald Trump, such as the likelihood that a jury would sympathize with him and that he could not remember, “even within several years,” when his son Beau Biden died, among other important dates.

The South Is Being Flooded by Leftugees

Now southerners are sitting in traffic — and that’s a good thing.

It was a Capitol Hill press spokesman job for a conservative Florida Congressman that got me to Washington, D.C. in 1982, where I contracted no Potomac Fever whatever. JFK was right when he described Washington as a city of Southern efficiency and Northern charm — and I was there for the good years when the Gipper was dozing in the White House and it appeared the nation was returning to some semblance of sanity.

I’ve never seen so many people per square yard as in that bloated company town. Self-importance is pandemic there. To those who asked about my D.C. experiences on my return to Planet Earth, I replied, “I’d like to buy those people up there for what they’re worth and sell them for what they think they’re worth.”

Ontario adding mandatory Black history learning to Grades 7, 8 and 10 history courses

Ontario’s education minister says that the province is introducing mandatory learning on the contributions of Black Canadians to history courses in Grades 7, 8 and 10.

Stephen Lecce says Black history is Canadian history and adding it as a mandatory part of the curriculum will ensure the next generation will better appreciate the sacrifices and commitments Black Canadians have made.

Why Don’t We Want a War with Iran?

Every discussion about the current Middle East conflict begins with the mandatory mantra, “We don’t want war with Iran.” Why not? That question is rarely asked.

Iran has declared war on the United States — militarily, legally, diplomatically, morally and politically. They have engaged in repeated casus belli (legal causes for war) since the mullahs took Americans hostage in 1979. Since that time, they have used their surrogates to attack American targets. We are entitled to respond militarily, as we are doing. But we are also entitled to go much further and treat them as aggressors who have effectively declared war on us. We are entitled to destroy their capacity to continue to wage war against us and our allies. The policy question in not whether we have a right to wage war against Iran. It is whether it is in our interest to do so.

Organized crime, including Mexican cartels, smuggling migrants to Canada

Mexican cartels are among the organized-crime groups being investigated for smuggling people to Canada, a committee of MPs looking into the issue heard Wednesday.

The RCMP told the House of Commons immigration committee that people trying to make it to Canada were vulnerable and that “organized criminals of all stripes – Mexican cartels included – will exploit that.”
