Well, of course, anybody with eyes to see could see plainly in 2024, if not before, that President Joe Biden was, as the saying goes, “cognitively impaired.” The public was far ahead of those so-called investigators in the press.
But where was the detailed, hot-on-the-trail Watergate-style investigation and reporting from the media at the time? Where was the investigation into what was really going on inside the Biden White House? Who was making the decisions? Who was running the place?
The pardon power is one of the more sweeping powers granted to the president by the Constitution, and on Monday, two presidents demonstrated why it remains among the most controversial.
We will deal with President Trump’s January 6 pardons in a separate editorial. As for Joe Biden’s last-minute pardons, they did not reek any less for being utterly predictable.

The New York Times finally joined the rest of the world in acknowledging one thing: Joe Biden is mentally deficient and has been for years. Since day one, Joe has exhibited signs of mental decrepitude, which led to a tight inner circle controlling the events surrounding the president to keep him on track and looking publicly vibrant for as long as possible. Jill Biden was part of this cabal, which the Times fleshed out in a lengthy article that would have been excoriated last summer for being out of line and borderline fake news because Joe Biden was fit, mentally sharp, and ready for a second term. The CNN debate last June obliterated that narrative.
Good to know, but it prompts a big question. And Mike Johnson has no good answer for it.

According to a Wall Street Journal report based on interviews with numerous Biden administration officials and aides, candidate and later President Joe Biden suffered from cognitive decline in his 2020 campaign and from the very beginning of his presidency, which caused campaign aides and White House staffers to limit his public appearances, adjust his schedule, limit his contact with Cabinet officials, shield him from news reports, hire a Hollywood voice coach to help with his “tone,” and take other steps to facilitate a cover-up to hide the President’s failing mental state. If true — and those with functioning eyes, ears, and minds during the past five years have no reason to doubt it — this cover-up of a president’s cognitive decline is the greatest political and presidential scandal — and media scandal — in American history.
Last week, as we covered here, the Biden Justice Department filed a death-penalty charge against Luigi Mangione, the alleged cold-blooded killer of health insurance executive Brian Thompson. Mangione was already facing state murder charges for the murder committed on a Manhattan street. The only reason to pile on a capital charge — for an administration that both says it philosophically opposes the death penalty and has imposed a moratorium on executions since President Biden entered office in January 2021 — was to grab headlines in a case that had riveted public attention.
At some yet to be determined point in the last 4 years, the President of the United States became mentally incompetent.
Rather than admit that and allow his vice president to step in, cover-up began in which White House staffers and advisers began carrying out actions in his name. The charade continued until a disastrous debate performance led the party to dump Biden on the grounds of mental competency even while leaving his in charge of the country. Despite an electoral trashing, the figures behind the administration have continued operating in his name and in their final weeks in power have engaged in a dramatic effort to stymie the incoming administration, to set new precedents and to transform America.
Finally. For Americans wondering when the media will finally admit President Joe Biden is, in the words of Fox’s Sean Hannity, “a cognitive mess,”, light dawns.
