Hamas faces ‘unprecedented battle’ against Israel, says Sinwar

Hamas is facing an “unprecedented battle” with Israel, the terror group’s leader in Gaza has said, in his first public message since the Oct 7 attacks.

Yahya Sinwar, who is believed to have been one of the masterminds of the devastating terror attack on Israel, rejected any possibility of compromising to end the war.

Hamas, he said in a letter published by Al Jazeera on Monday, is “fighting a fierce, violent and unprecedented battle against the Israeli occupation forces, and the occupation army suffered heavy losses in life and equipment”.

KLEIN: Proper vetting of refugees is common sense for Manitoba

Recently, I wrote about the planned Polo Park protest by pro-Palestinian activists. Many of these protesters disrupt the lives of ordinary people, families, and Canadian Businesses. It seems like we already have many people in Canada inclined to justify terrorism and take the side of Hamas.

I can’t imagine why we would want to import more people who might be inclined to make lives miserable for normal families.

Despite a rough 2023, Liberal MPs say spirits are high ahead of election

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is ending the year with fewer internal headwinds after some Liberals see the party regaining their footing and believe caucus anxiety over the government’s fortunes has eased slightly.

In recent months, the minority Liberals have struggled in public opinion polls, lagged in fundraising and been criticized for being out of touch with voters. Heading into the fall, Mr. Trudeau also faced internal woes with disgruntled caucus members raising concerns about his leadership and skepticism about his future after spending the summer getting an earful on the doorsteps. Four months later, that’s shifted.

Why Canada’s ban on foreign buyers hasn’t made homes more affordable

Kris Wallace and Andy Ali of Vancouver say their search for a larger condo to give their family more room has been frustrating. Real estate and rental costs in the city are so high that their 26-year-old daughter is still living with them and they’re all feeling the squeeze.

A year ago, the federal government instituted a foreign buyer ban after passing the Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act in 2022. The two-year ban, which came into effect on Jan. 1, barred non-citizens, non-permanent residents and foreign controlled companies from buying up Canadian property as an investment.

But Wallace says that ban didn’t do much for her family.

I bet these people voted for Trudeau.
