Trump barred from appearing on Colorado presidential primary ballot, state Supreme Court rules

Donald Trump was barred from appearing on Colorado’s presidential primary ballot next year, the state’s Supreme Court ruled Tuesday.

The court determined the 77-year-old former president was ineligible for the White House, citing the US Constitution’s insurrection clause, which led to his removal from the ballot.

It’s the first time in history that Section 3 of the 14 Amendment has been used to disqualify a presidential candidate.

Zelensky faces dissent among generals as Ukraine war stalls

President Zelensky holds his annual press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday amid mounting concern over the future of western military aid and Ukraine’s ability to hold back a renewed Russian offensive.

It comes after a Ukrainian general said troops along the entire front line were facing ammunition shortages and had been forced to downsize some operations because of a decrease in foreign assistance.

“The volumes we have are not sufficient, given our needs,” General Tarnavskyi said on Monday.

Doctors Without Borders, an Accomplice of Hamas?

The public statements since October 7 of Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) and its employees, on the ground in Gaza, show a systematic bias in favor of Hamas and hostility to Israel. MSF has failed in its humanitarian purpose and violated its own charter, which proclaims “assistance… irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions.”

MSF has been present in the Gaza Strip since 1989. It now plays a leading role there, with at least 300 staff members, and works closely with local hospitals on a number of projects, either directly or indirectly with the Hamas “Ministry of Health”.

Meet the Mainstream Media’s Go-To Human Rights Experts. Spoiler Alert: They Hate Israel.

The Washington Post recently tapped two human rights experts, Omar Shakir and Raji Sourani, to lambast Israel over viral photographs of Palestinian prisoners clad in their underwear. In that story, headlined, “Hungry, Thirsty, and Humiliated: Israel’s Mass Arrest Campaign Sows Fear in Northern Gaza,” Shakir called for an international investigation of the Jewish state. Sourani condemned Israel for littering Gaza with “corpses all over the place.”

More Trudeau tax hikes in 2024

OTTAWA, ON: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation released its annual New Year’s Tax Changes report today to highlight major tax changes in 2024.

Germany: Bavaria can hang crosses in state buildings

Crosses mounted in the entrances of the state’s administrative buildings in Bavaria can stay up, Germany’s highest court for most administrative law disputes ruled on Tuesday.

In 2018, Bavarian state premier Markus Söder of the Christian Social Union (CSU) ordered that all public buildings prominently hang a cross “as an expression of Bavaria’s historical and cultural character.”

A Bavarian lobby group advocating “the meaningful separation of church and state as well as the eradication of church privileges,” whose German name might roughly translate to the Association for Free Thinking for Bavaria (bfg Bayern), challenged the decree in court.

During WW II in Bavaria attempts were made to remove crosses from public buildings by local Nazis.

Soldiers returning from the front on leave were recruited by local Catholics to re-install the crosses in very public displays.

One instance saw a pitchfork wielding mob threaten a local Nazi Bigwig unless he returned the crosses he had hidden. His wife spilled the beans fearing her Nazi hubby would meet a horrible end.

Not exactly a hate wave … Only 20 incidents out of 100 place Mohammedans a poor second in TPS Hate tally

‘Hatred will have no space in our city:’ Nearly 100 hate crimes reported to Toronto police since onset of Israel-Hamas war

A total of 56 of the 98 total occurrences were classified by police as antisemitic, up from 18 during the same time period last year. Another 20 were categorized as anti-Muslim/Palestinian, up from just two during the same time period in 2022.

‘Hatred will have no space in our city’ because the TPS will continue to pretend it didn’t happen.

Muslims are not the victims.

Liberals don’t want to regulate speech with online harms bill, justice minister says

Canada’s justice minister said he hopes to avoid accusations that the Liberal government is trying to regulate or curb speech with its planed bill to protect people from online harms.

“Where I don’t want this bill to go is down some sort of path where it looks like people are trying to tell you what to think, or how to criticize people,” federal Justice Minister Arif Virani told The Canadian Press in a wide-ranging interview last week.

“That’s absolutely not what we’re talking about.”

Still Don’t Think This Is a Battle of Good and Evil, Eh?

What does teaching a child how to do BJs and the finer points of masturbation have to do with success in school? Does it help a child’s ability to learn math facts, how to read, or understand what they’re reading? What is it that our schools should be teaching, anyway? If you’re the newly-elected Fairfax County, Va., school board president, gay sex should be front and center. In fact, when Karl Frisch took his oath of office, he laid his left hand on gay porn books and, with his right arm raised and his male partner looking adoringly at him, he swore an oath to be a “providential magistrate” of Fairfax County schools.

Rahim Mohamed: Maher Arar returns to spread antisemitism and misinformation

In the wake of the Israel-Hamas war, a central figure from Canada’s early-2000s War on Terror has resurfaced on Twitter, sharing his opinions on the conflict with anyone who will give him the time of day.

Ottawa-based tech entrepreneur Maher Arar has been tweeting up a storm lately, with the bio, “I expose lies and deception through audio and video forensic analysis.” In practice, this has meant amplifying pro-Hamas narratives to his near 16,000 followers and openly attempting to minimize the Oct. 7 massacre.

Meta’s news ban in Canada remains as Online News Act goes into effect

A bill that mandates tech giants pay news outlets for their content has come into effect in Canada amid an ongoing dispute with Facebook and Instagram owner Meta over the law.

Some have hailed it as a game-changer that sets out a permanent framework that will see a steady drip of funds from wealthy tech companies to Canada’s struggling journalism industry.
But it has also been met with resistance by Google and Meta – the only two companies big enough to be encompassed by the law.
