Oregon’s decriminalisation dream hits reality of drugs and death

When Oregon voted to decriminalise possession of hard drugs such as heroin, cocaine and crystal meth three years ago, campaigners hailed the move as a brave step towards ending the failed war on drugs.

Yet hope has given way to a grim realisation that the policies appear to have failed, with soaring overdose deaths and the state’s biggest city, Portland, suffering from crime and squalor.

Anthony Furey: Feds Are Creating Emissions Trading Credits for Cow Burps–Seriously

The past couple of years, I’ve become familiar with the Pokemon trading card market. That’s because my children started playing the game, learned the value of different cards, and got involved in the buying and selling of them.

It’s quite something to think that a little piece of paper with the picture of a cartoon character on it can go for $75. Or, in exceptional cases, hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Trans ideology is now pandering to paedophiles

To Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the feelings of paedophiles are seemingly more important than telling the truth. Last week, the force reported on the sentencing of two inmates – Naomi O’Brien and Jonathan Walker – for crimes against a child. GMP posted on X: ‘A man and a woman have been sentenced to a combined 16 years and nine months in prison for their roles in the sexual abuse of a child.’ Only this wasn’t quite true. The text was accompanied by a mugshot of the very obviously male O’Brien.

Violence Against Politicians, Violence Against Populations

Why should belonging to the majority ethnic group of a given place be a disadvantage?

Autumn 2023 may be remembered as a benchmark for a more explicit split between the political class and popular feeling in Western Europe than had previously been the case, bringing with it, at least in the short term, the normalisation of repression and violence.

With the rise of ‘populist’ right-wing parties, we are also seeing a rise in political violence and threats. On October 8th,

According to AfD officials, [Alice] Weidel was forced to flee her apartment due to what appears to have been advanced intelligence about an imminent attack against the politician and her family as the AfD prepares to contest regional Bavarian elections on October 8th.

On November 9th, Alejo Vidal-Quadras, co-founder of VOX, was shot in the face in Madrid, Spain. And a week later, on November 20th, Thierry Baudet was taken to hospital after being attacked with a bottle in Groningen—the second case of physical violence against him in a month.

Polish right-wing MP douses Jewish menorah with fire extinguisher

Grzegorz Braun, an antisemitic lawmaker from the right-wing Confederation party, on Tuesday doused the candles in a Hanukkah menorah in the Polish parliament with a fire extinguisher — denouncing the Jewish ritual as “Satanic.”

“Racist motives have been attributed to me here, meanwhile, I am just restoring a state of normalcy and balance here, putting an end to acts of Satanic, Talmudist triumphalism, because that is the message of these holidays,” Braun, peppered with white powder from the extinguisher, said in the parliament building.

Leftists Cry About Trump’s ‘Fascism’ While Clinging To Their Own Totalitarian Leaders

This Christmas season, we owe a debt of gratitude to MSNBC for drawing attention to the serious issue of spreading fascism in America.

MSNBC hosts Mehdi Hasan, whose show has since been canceled, and Joy Reid gave the Article III Project, the conservative legal group I lead, a platform the likes of which we could only dream of two weeks ago. Hasan targeted me, along with the Article III Project, for demanding we follow laws and protect our homeland from both foreign and domestic threats through means such as deporting terrorist-supporting visa holders and denaturalizing terrorist-supporting naturalized citizens. Reid, who’s long been a fan of weaponizing the federal government to target conservatives, believes it’s fascist to enforce the rules on our books for policing immigration, securing our borders, and preventing another 9/11 or 10/7 terrorist attack.

Barbara Kay: CRT Proponents Miss the Greatest Privilege Available to All Races: Traditional Family

That watermelon looks racist.

It was gratifying to read Tara MacIsaac’s informative Nov. 30 feature article, “What Canadian Schools Are Teaching About ‘White Privilege’ and ‘Systemic Racism,’” in these pages. The generous wordage allowance gave MacIsaac the freedom to fully illustrate the harmful effects on schoolchildren, constantly subjected to indoctrination in the Marxist ideology of critical race theory (CRT).

NDP Keeps Justin Trudeau Afloat

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sometimes seems to defy political gravity. He’s held office for more than eight years, through scandal and error. He survived revelations that he wore blackface three times as a young man, along with two ethics violations handed down from Canada’s ethics commissioner for conflict of interest. He has had public spats with female parliamentarians and ministers—as well as icy relations with China and India and with Presidents Trump and Biden.

Frank Stronach: Is Canada’s standard of living starting to unravel?

In business — as in life — warnings don’t usually come attached with loud blaring sirens.

They often first appear as weak signals, one after the other, and as they become more frequent, they also get a little louder.

A number of news stories over the past few weeks have been exactly those kinds of signals — under-the-radar warnings about the state of our economy and our society.

Canada, New Zealand, Australia call for efforts toward ‘sustainable ceasefire’ in Israel-Hamas war

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is joining allies in calling for “efforts towards a sustainable ceasefire” in the Israel-Hamas war — the first time the government of Canada has officially used the word “ceasefire” in relation to the conflict.

Trudeau and the prime ministers of Australia and New Zealand issued a joint statement Tuesday calling for the resumption of the seven-day pause in fighting that ended earlier this month.

“The recent pause in hostilities allowed for the release of more than 100 hostages and supported an increase in humanitarian access to affected civilians,” the statement said.

Eleven Months From the Election It Looks as If Trump’s Enemies Might Have To Start Thinking the Unthinkable

The battle-scarred and exhausted forces of Trump-hate must have reached their last extremity — the fatuous theory that “Making America Great” is fascistic and that there is some similarity between Trump and Hitler and Napoleon (as if there were any significant similarities between Hitler and Napoleon). It is surely the last trench before they throw down their weapons and flee on foot.
