Germany bans Hamas activities, dissolves Samidoun group

Germany has announced a ban on Samidoun, a group that says it advocates for Palestinian prisoners, and imposed further prohibitions to stamp out support for the Islamist militant group Hamas, which Berlin already lists as a terrorist organization.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz had announced that the government planned to take action against the two groups in the days that followed the October 7 massacres in Israel that killed some 1,400 people.

Rex Murphy: The carbon tax is dead. Trudeau did it in

Justin Trudeau came into office on the spume of Canadian-level celebrity, built on a persona of ostentatious, idle gestures and token cheer (selfies, socks, costumes), the endless vocalization of woke crackerjack-box slogans and a smile cemented in place that had all the warmth of well-gelled cement. Just style. Style, understood as the adoption of surface mannerisms in place of deeply settled convictions, convictions built on a real attempt to understand Canada, to relate to all its regions, and an appreciation (which does not mean agreement) of the ideas, lifestyles and situations of mainstream Canadians: style adopted as a campaign dynamic.

Muslims warn Europe: Stop supporting Israel or….

Welcome to “diversity.”

7,000 pro-Palestinian Arab demonstrators had gathered at the station in Düsseldorf, the seventh largest German city, to march along the Königsallee towards regional Parliament. One of the speakers told the mayor: “Our children already make up 30 percent of the students in Düsseldorf.” Where “ours” stands for Muslims.

Welcome to “diversity”.

Here is the ruthless logic of the pro-Hamas demonstrations that we see these days throughout Europe and in Italy:

“We will be the majority, woe betide you if you support Israel”.

Our falling living standards are not just an economic risk

In recent months, there has been considerable attention given to the evidence that the standard of living of Canadians is falling. The benchmark reference for this trend is the decline in after-inflation income per person – that is, real GDP per capita. This worrying development reflects still-elevated inflation, weakening economic growth, and strong population gains fuelled by immigration.

We knew the police were useless – now we know they are cowards too

A few years ago, when Left-wing activists started calling on the Government to “Defund the police”, I ridiculed them. Now, though, I wonder whether they might have had a point. It’s not that I think we shouldn’t have a police force. It’s just that it’s growing less and less clear what we’re getting for our money.

These days, the police hardly ever solve crimes such as burglary and theft. In 2021, a mere 5 per cent of burglaries in England and Wales were solved. And if your bicycle or laptop has been stolen, forget it. You won’t be seeing them again. (I’m referring to the bicycle or laptop, although I might as well be referring to the police, since you probably won’t be seeing them, either.)

The situation in Canada and the UK is comparable though to date our police forces unlike Britain’s have refrained from ripping down Hostage Posters to preserve “community cohesion.”

In-Depth: What It Really Costs to Own an EV

While both Ottawa and Washington are aiming to eventually eliminate new gas-powered cars from being sold, consumer demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is currently languishing and the true cost to the consumer of an EV is a subject of debate.

“EVs have consistently failed to compete with combustion vehicles on performance and cost, and failed to win broad consumer support despite oceans of government subsidies for manufacturers and buyers alike,” said an Oct. 11 Fraser Institute op-ed.

Even with strikes plaguing the industry, “the bigger story in autos is the EV slowdown,” RBC Capital Markets global auto analyst Tom Narayan told CNBC on Oct. 30.

GOLDSTEIN: The only cure for anti-Semitism is to publicly condemn it

It’s no surprise that anti-Semitism has exploded globally in the wake of Israel’s devastating military response in Gaza to the terrorist attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.

The latest warning comes from FBI Director Christopher Wray, as reported by the BBC, who said anti-Semitism in the U.S. is reaching “historic levels”.

What the hell did you think would happen when you opened the gates to barbarians?

When you allowed universities to be taken over by raving lunatics?

When you demonized anyone who dared point out that not all cultures are equal?

John Ivison: Knives out for Trudeau’s fatally injured carbon tax

“With this amendment we can at least draw a line,” Quebec Senator Pierre Dalphond told the Senate’s agriculture and forestry committee.

Just one week before Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced he planned to exempt home heating oil from the carbon tax, in a desperate bid to curry favour with voters in Atlantic Canada, the committee was dealing with another proposed carve out.

Hamas claims Israeli strike on refugee camp killed seven hostages

Hamas’s military wing, al-Qassam Brigades, has claimed that seven of the hostages it is holding were killed when Israel bombed Gaza’s largest refugee camp on Tuesday.

At least 50 people were killed and more than 150 injured in the Israeli airstrikes on the densely populated Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, according to hospital figures and the local health ministry, which is run by Hamas.
