Are Canada’s Skyrocketing Assisted Suicide Death Rates a Harbinger for America?

‘Some people say, ‘Well, we can have a little bit of this.’ That’s what they argued in Canada too,’ a Canadian expert warns American euthanasia advocates.

As backers of assisted suicide push to expand legalization in the United States, new numbers from Canada’s government show euthanasia is now the fifth-leading cause of death in the country.

A stunning 4 percent of the country’s deaths last year were due to assisted suicide. More than 13,000 patients died by it in 2022 — a 31 percent spike from the previous year. The country’s deaths by euthanasia now number nearly 45,000 since legalization in 2016, almost as many as have died from Covid in Canada.

UK: Hamas supporters call for ‘intifada from London to Gaza’

Pro-Palestine protesters have chanted “from London to Gaza, we’ll have an intifada”, footage of a rally in the capital on Saturday shows.

Demonstrators following a flag that read “Fight for Revolution” were chanting the call for an intifada. The term has often been interpreted as referring to violent uprisings by Palestinians against the state of Israel.

In a clip posted on social media, a man with a loudhailer led the chant “From London to Gaza, we’ll have an intifada”.

Jewish group accuses Greta Thunberg’s climate movement of ‘demonising Israel’

Fridays for Future claim that Hamas’s Oct 7 massacre was ‘rooted in ethnic cleansing of Palestinians’ called a ‘crude distortion of history’

The movement started by climate activist Greta Thunberg has been accused of “demonising Israel” after it claimed Western governments had brainwashed citizens into backing the country.

Josef Schuster, the head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, an advocacy group, accused Fridays for Future of peddling conspiracy theories, as he called for the German branch to sever ties with the wider international movement.

The group earlier this week alleged that Western media outlets were “funded by imperialist governments who stand with Israel”.

Tech Entrepreneurs Testify They Witnessed Corruption, Fraud, Extortion During ArriveCAN Development

Factions within the federal government were complicit in corruption, extortion, and “ghost contracting” during the development of Canada’s ArriveCAN app, two tech entrepreneurs testified during a government committee meeting.

“An act of misconduct rarely happens in isolation. It is almost always symptomatic of a larger existence and tolerance of misconduct,” Amir Morv, co-founder of software company Botler AI, told MPs in his opening remarks on Oct. 26. “Individuals engaged in such conduct are also prime targets of exploitation and extortion.”

Immigration minister announces new rules to curb international student fraud schemes

OTTAWA – Colleges and universities that issue acceptance letters to international students will have to confirm all of them with the federal immigration department as Canada moves to crack down on fraud.

Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced the new rules Friday following an investigation this summer into more than 100 cases involving fake admission letters.

The department launched a task force in June to investigate a scheme that dates back to 2017, which saw immigration agents issue fake acceptance letters to get international students into Canada.

Poilievre says Trudeau’s carbon tax pause is a ‘scam’ to win re-election

The prime minister’s decision to temporarily exempt home heating oil from the carbon tax is a “scam” designed to turn around Liberal fortunes in the polls, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said Friday.

“What caused [Prime Minister] Justin Trudeau to freak out yesterday and hold a sudden press conference to announce that he was going to pause the carbon tax on home heating oil? The answer is that he was plummeting in the polls,” Poilievre said in St. John’s.

“Justin Trudeau is not worried about the cost of living. He is worried about the cost of votes and that’s what caused his panicked flip-flop yesterday.”

As Gazans Scrounge for Food and Water, Hamas Sits on a Rich Trove of Supplies

Hamas has spent years stockpiling desperately needed fuel, food and medicine, as well as ammo and weapons, in the miles of tunnels it has carved out under Gaza.

As supplies of virtually every basic human necessity dwindle in Gaza, one group in the besieged enclave remains well-stocked: Hamas.

Arab and Western officials say there is substance to Israeli claims of Hamas stockpiling supplies, including desperately needed food and fuel. Hamas, they say, has spent years building dozens of kilometers of tunnels under the strip where it has amassed stores of virtually everything needed for a drawn-out fight. It is a reality that Israel may soon find itself grappling with if it makes good on its threat to invade Gaza.
