Russia Evades G7 Crude Sanctions

Russia has completely evaded G7 sanctions on its crude oil, recovering earlier losses on its petroleum while squeezing Europe again on energy. In fact, Russian crude oil exports increased 50% this spring.

In December 2022, the G7 and Australia agreed to a cap of $60 per barrel on Russian crude oil, with the idea of keeping the petroleum flowing into global markets but limiting Russia’s ability to profit from it. At first, it seemed to work as the price of Russian oil dropped to $40 per barrel. Russia was already responding, though, seeking out countries outside the G7 for its now-discounted oil and building a so-called “dark fleet” of non-Western ships to transport its oil without suffering the price cap, which also applied to oil transported on Western ships.

Canadian tech company allegedly implicated in foreign spying received millions from Ontario government

A Canadian tech company that has received millions of dollars in funding from the Ontario government is allegedly implicated in a spy incident involving an Egyptian presidential candidate, according to a new report.

Researchers from The Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto’s Munk School shared in a press release Friday that they believe, with “high confidence,” technology produced by the Waterloo, Ont.-based firm Sandvine was used in multiple attempts to infect spyware technology into the device of Ahmed Altantawy, a former Egyptian lawmaker who recently announced his intentions to run for Egypt’s highest office.

It takes the Star about 3/4 of the article to mention the funding came from the Wynne and McGuinty governments.

Tensions Near Boiling Point as Criminal Activity Grows in Chicago Migrant Shelters

Over the weekend, a fight broke out near the 1,163-resident migrant shelter at the former Standard Club, 320 S. Plymouth Court. It was one of several brawls that have erupted at shelters across the city.

Most of the shelters are in residential neighborhoods dominated by small businesses. And the friction between business owners who complain the loitering migrants are destroying their businesses, residents who feel unsafe, and the migrants stuffed into shelters could blow wide open at any time.

The Trudeau Problem in Canada

It’s been a tough few days for the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. Nothing, it seems, is going right for him. His domestic popularity has been on a downward spiral for some time and is unlikely to rebound any time soon, if the present trends are anything to go by. His main rival, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, is gaining ground with recent polls suggesting he has the backing of 40 per cent of Canadians who see him as the best choice to be prime minister, a 5 percent increase from 2022, even as Trudeau’s popularity remains unchanged at 31 percent.

It’s good to see the foreign press taking a proper view of the Cokehead in Ottawa.

Trudeau Apologizes For Nazi Adjacent Liberal Party’s Waffen SS Affinity

Trudeau apologizes after a Ukrainian Nazi veteran was celebrated at Zelenskyy speech

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has apologized on behalf of Canada after a veteran of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi forces was included in a parliamentary event last week honouring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“All of us who were in this House on Friday regret deeply having stood and clapped even though we did so unaware of the context,” Trudeau said in a brief statement to reporters.

“It was a horrendous violation of the memory of the millions of people who died in the Holocaust,” he said, saying the celebration of ex-soldier Yaroslav Hunka was “deeply, deeply painful” to Jewish people, Poles, Roma, the LGBT community and other racialized people in particular — some of the groups that were targeted by the Nazi regime in the Second World War.

Canada isn’t guilty of anything. Trudeau and his Nazi party loving pals are guilty.

Judge Rules Trump Defrauded Banks, Insurers While Building Real Estate Empire

NEW YORK (AP) — A judge ruled Tuesday that Donald Trump committed fraud for years while building the real estate empire that catapulted him to fame and the White House, and he ordered some of the former president’s companies removed from his control and dissolved.

Judge Arthur Engoron, ruling in a civil lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, found that Trump and his company deceived banks, insurers and others by massively overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing loans.

It may now be game over for Justin Trudeau

The Canadian Prime Minister has met his match in refreshing Conservative opposition leader Pierre Poilievre

The latest polls in Canada have the country’s Conservative Party in a very comfortable position. If an election were held now, it’s predicted that the Tories would take 179 seats, against the governing Liberals with 103, and the socialist New Democratic Party 21. The Greens and Quebec separatists would split the rest. There are 338 MP in Ottawa’s House of Commons, so even with the country being as regional as it is, that Conservative victory would be sufficient for a working government.

OMG! Michael Coren must be changing faiths again!

Hunter Biden received $260K from Beijing during dad’s campaign — with Joe’s address on wire: Comer

First son Hunter Biden received two wire transfers from Chinese nationals worth a total of $260,000 months after dad Joe began his 2020 presidential campaign — and with the elder Biden’s Delaware home listed as the beneficiary address, a key House Republican said Tuesday.

Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) revealed financial records that his panel subpoenaed turned up the transfers in July and August 2019.

The revelation is another blow to President Biden’s insistence that he had no knowledge or discussion of his only surviving son’s foreign business interests.

Parliament’s Nazi scandal a ‘top headline story’ for Russian propaganda news

OTTAWA — On Tuesday, a Russian embassy account posted online that Ukraine was issuing stamps with the face of Yaroslav Hunka, who received a standing ovation in the House of Commons before it was revealed he served in a Nazi unit during the Second World War.

The “completely false” post from Russia’s U.K. embassy uses a fabricated stamp and is an example of how Russia is already using the incident for its own purposes, said Marcus Kolga, senior fellow at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute.

The War in Ukraine Is Also a Giant Arms Fair

Panzerhaubitze howitzer

Arms makers are getting orders for weapons being put to the test on the battlefield

MINKIVKA, Ukraine—The Ukrainian crew of a high-tech German artillery system can shoot three shells within seconds that will simultaneously hit the exact same spot more than 25 miles away.

That is, when the big gun hasn’t broken down.

The Panzerhaubitze howitzer is part of an arsenal of weapons being put to the test in Ukraine in what has become the world’s largest arms fair.

Panzerhaubitze meets Rasputitsa or someone didn’t read their history – “However, the howitzer has a vulnerability to environmental conditions. The equipment’s sensitive electronics are prone to malfunction when exposed to moisture or dirt, requiring soldiers to wear special booties or slippers inside.“

Why Did Trudeau Dawdle on Chinese Election Meddling?

After months of resisting the idea, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced a major public inquiry tasked with investigating how China has meddled in Canadian politics.

The reversal, amid miserable domestic polling numbers and intense pressure from the opposition parties and media, comes after more than a year of revelations about Beijing’s efforts to interfere in Canada—largely to the advantage of Trudeau’s Liberal Party.
