Conrad Black: Pierre Poilievre’s convention speech a true plan to fix Canada

Pierre Poilievre‘s address to the federal Conservative party conference on Sept. 8 in Quebec City was one of the most effective and important political speeches in this country in many years. It was amusing, hard-hitting, well delivered, comprehensive, and except for Brian Mulroney and the Trudeaus, Poilievre is the most fluently bilingual leader any Canadian political party has had since Louis St. Laurent. The most important aspect of it was that it was an authentic conservative speech skillfully crafted to attract broad support. Except for Stephen Harper and Andrew Scheer, the federal Conservative and Progressive Conservative leaders since George drew (who retired in 1956), were only marginally to the right of the Liberals.

Carson Jerema: Here come the Trudeau food shortages

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau cares so much about how the cost of food is affecting Canadians, he is threatening to bring in policies that will either raise grocery bills even more, or bring about shortages — or both. Remember spring 2020, with the empty shelves and lineups to get into the Superstore? Trudeau apparently does, and with fondness.

In Germany, a government minister goes after critics of radical Islam

Germany’s secret political police were weaponized against those considered “Islamophobes” by the Home Secretary.

Nancy Faeser – Muslim Brotherhood asset

Sigrid Herrmann (SPD) is an expert on political Islam and publishes the blog “Islamism and Society,” where she provides well-founded reports on the main actors and activities of radical Islam in Germany. Herrmann helped reveal the connections between the “charitable organization” Islamic Relief, the Muslim Brotherhood and its Gaza affiliate, Hamas.

Islamic Relief is banned in Israel and the UAE for its terror ties, but was funded by the German government, advertised by German public broadcasters and supported by major German political figures such as President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Bundestag Vice-President Aydan Özoguz, until Herrmann’s revelations in 2021, when they had to shelve the collaboration.

Why the Murder of Mahsa Amini Could Lead to Revolution

Last year, Mahsa Jina Amini, a 22-year-old woman from the town of Saqqez in northwestern Iran, came to visit family in Tehran—a stranger in a strange land.

On September 13, she was exiting a subway station with her brother when she was stopped by the morality police for wearing an “inappropriate hijab.” It’s unclear what she was actually wearing that day—her mother says it was a “long, loose robe”—but she was locked up and beaten for this so-called crime.

Three days later, on September 16, Mahsa Amini was dead.

America’s Wokest Company

Penzeys Spices wants Republicans to know that they’re the “#1 threat to this country.”

I maintain an ever-growing list of woke companies on my website to help consumers make informed decisions. About half of the companies on the list are there based on reader suggestions. I get a lot of spicy feedback, but I never could have imagined that a reader tip could inspire me to proclaim Penzeys, a retail spice chain, America’s wokest company. That’s right, Penzeys—not Ben & Jerry’s, not Patagonia, not Disney, not Nike. Penzeys Spices. Here’s why.

City of Brotherly Love Weighs Ban on Drug Injection Sites as Its Kensington Neighborhood Reels From Opioid Crisis Sweeping Nation

Philadelphia’s City Council will vote today whether to ban facilities that make it safer for addicts to inject illegal drugs, as footage of open drug use and rampant crime at the city’s Kensington neighborhood draws international concern.

The bill, expected to pass by a majority vote, aims to amend Philadelphia’s zoning code to prohibit “injection sites for narcotics” in nine of the city’s ten districts. Philadelphia’s mayor, Jim Kenney, has not yet indicated whether he would sign the bill.

Biden Administration’s Dangerous, Failed, Disastrous Iran Policy

There seems to be nothing that the Biden administration will not do to appease the ruling mullahs of Iran and their regime, called only a few years ago by the US Department of State the “top state sponsor of terrorism.” Since the Biden administration assumed office, the more it has been appeasing the Iranian regime financially and politically, the more the mullahs, instead of taking reciprocal steps, have become empowered and emboldened. Iran is now holding uranium enrichment at 60% purity, around 10 days away from raising it to the nuclear threshold level of 90%.

In short, the US, instead of stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, is bribing the mullahs not to go to 90% enrichment, at least on the Biden administration’s watch, especially ahead of the November 2024 US presidential election.

Surgical charges against Hunter Biden suggest a willful blindness at DOJ

In both the law and psychology, the concept of “willful blindness” is a long-recognized pattern of human conduct. It has been described as circumstances where “you could have known, and should have known, something that instead you strove not to see.”

The indictment of Hunter Biden on three counts of federal gun violations illustrates the myopic view of many in the media and the Justice Department.

Although there is a real possibility of additional charges against Hunter, the move to charge the gun violations reinforces a concern that the Justice Department continues to focus on charges that stay as far away from Hunter’s father, President Joe Biden, as plausible. The gun charges are conveniently self-contained and insulated for the administration.

Atlantic Liberal MPs press Trudeau for rural carbon tax carve-out

Atlantic Liberal MPs say they want an additional rural carve-out on the carbon tax to ease cost-of-living pressures specific to Canadians living outside of major urban centres.

He brought their concerns to the attention of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during the national Liberal caucus meetings this week in London, Ont.

Trial by social media: Court struggles under weight of ‘Freedom Convoy’ evidence

OTTAWA – As thousands of demonstrators clogged the streets around Parliament Hill in early 2022, many of them had phones in hand, taking video of the different scenes around them for almost three weeks.

For some participants, the “Freedom Convoy” protests had a festival-like atmosphere. For those who weren’t part of the fun, it felt more like an occupation.
