It’s been a brutal month in France but one would barely know it from the reaction of much of the political and media class. Their attention has been focused on a rapper called Médine, who was invited at the start of August to appear at the Green party’s summer conference, which opened in the Channel port city of Le Havre on Thursday.
In the time between being invited and the conference, the 40-year-old rapper of Algerian descent became embroiled in a social media brouhaha after he described the Jewish writer Rachel Khan as a ‘ResKHANpée,’; this is a crass play on words, ‘rescapée’ (survivor) being the word for someone who survived the Holocaust. Khan’s grandparents came through the holocaust.

An Austin-based doctor performs “non-binary” genital surgeries.
The debate about transgender medicine is shifting. Legislators in 20 states have recently passed bills to restrict transgender medical interventions, such as puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and genital surgeries, for minors. And the tide of public opinion appears to be moving against “gender-affirming care,” a euphemism for child sex-change procedures not supported by the evidence and that often cause devastating consequences. Preventing such procedures for patients under age 18 has to be the baseline.

Yale University’s police union has sparked outrage by giving hundreds of incoming students ominous “survival guide” flyers branded with the Grim Reaper — warning them about “shockingly high” crime around the Ivy League campus.
The bold flyers, which were doled out to first-year students this week as they moved into their New Haven, Connecticut dorms, are nearly identical to the controversial “Welcome to Fear City” notices distributed to tourists in a crime-ridden Big Apple in the 1970s.

During CNN’s live coverage of Trump’s motorcade to the Fulton County, Georgia jail for the former President’s booking on Erin Burnett OutFront, fill-in anchor Kaitlan Collins and correspondent Sara Murray fretted that Trump would use his new mugshot “to his political advantage” and fundraise off the photo to help his presidential campaign.
“Trump himself has been not downplaying this. I mean, he is certainly seeing how he uses these exact moments to his political advantage,” Collins kvetched.

“The system is blinking red right now,” an unnamed senior FBI official was quoted as saying in a recent report from the Center for Strategic and International studies (CSIS). “We have not seen this level of Chinese intelligence and influence activity in and around the U.S. homeland ever.”

One of the creators of Amazon’s A League of Their Own has attempted to blame the show’s premature demise on what he believes to be the political persecution of gays, arguing that the cancellation after just one season is the latest indignity to befall “queer” people in this country.
In a shocking admission, he said that he and others were pressured to make the show less gay, at least during its first season, in order to attract more viewers — a piece of advice he said he proudly ignored.
Amazon should do a mash-up of Rings of Power and League Of Lesbos.

LONDON (AP) — British police said Friday they are investigating the deaths of 88 people in the U.K. who bought products from Canada-based websites allegedly offering lethal substances to people at risk of self harm.
The probe is part of international inquiries sparked by the arrest in Canada earlier this year of Kenneth Law, who has been charged with two counts of counseling and aiding suicide. Canadian police say Law, from the Toronto area, used a series of websites to market and sell sodium nitrite, a substance commonly used to cure meats that can be deadly if ingested.

For several years now, Chicago’s spiraling crime rates have featured a shocking increase in the number of vehicular thefts and carjackings. The Chicago Police Department recorded an increase in car thefts from 9,000 to 21,000 in just the past three years. Among the most popular cars to steal are Kias and Hyundais, possibly because they are the easiest to break into and drive away.

Canada’s current wildfire season is devastating evidence of the effects of climate change, scientists say, but for some conspiracy theorists, the thousands of square kilometres of burnt ground isn’t enough to convince them.
Instead, space lasers, arsonists and government plots to restrict people’s movement are some of the causes of the fires, according to fringe online circles. But despite being fringe, these theories are widely circulated and boosted by social media algorithms.

The House Oversight Committee has released a compilation of videos that purportedly show President Biden making false statements about his knowledge of his son Hunter’s foreign business dealings. The committee’s presentation includes extensive evidence that the president dined with his son’s benefactors from Russia and Central Asia and spoke with his son’s business partners on speakerphone at least 20 times.

A light bulb has finally come on in Justin Trudeau’s cabinet. Dim though that bulb may be, it has sufficient power to illuminate a glaring weakness in how Ontario funds post-secondary education.
Sean Fraser, the new federal housing minister, offered the opinion this week that the 807,260 international students in Canada are putting pressure on the Canadian housing market. That’s not terribly surprising, since the number of international students has more than doubled since the Liberals took power. It’s also a problem that Fraser failed to address when he was immigration minister.
While it’s gratifying to see the federal Liberals tentatively identifying a link between the number of people flowing into the country and the shortage of housing, it’s Ontario Premier Doug Ford who really has to wake up.
The foreign student scam is harming Canadian citizens.
Are our politicians so dim they didn’t see that coming or are they just malevolent destroyers?
We need to close a lot of these woke universities. They are toxic.

Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” is the most talked about song in America.
Released just this month, the blue-collar tune is already approaching 40 million views on YouTube and landed on top of Billboard’s Hot 100 on Tuesday, making Anthony the first musician ever to hit No. 1 with no previous chart history. It was even the subject of the first question at the Republican presidential primary debate on Wednesday.

British Columbia has pulled firefighting crews out of the North Shuswap area after a group of protesters confronted RCMP at a highway checkpoint, where the demonstrators argued the Mounties do not have the authority to block people from entering a wildfire evacuation zone.
Legendary singer Carlos Santana is being smeared by the mainstream media as “anti-trans” for stating the biological reality that “a woman is a woman and a man is a man” during a recent performance.
Carlos Santana made the seemingly spontaneous remarks during a concert this week in New Jersey.
