Liberals are painting Pierre Poilievre as the next Donald Trump. That’s a risky strategy

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should be cautious about making the same mistake with Pierre Poilievre as Stephen Harper did with him when the Conservative prime minister mischaracterized his Liberal opponent only to see him surpass expectations.

Back in 2015, Harper’s director of communications, Kory Teneycke, told reporters that expectations of Trudeau were so low going into the first election debate “that if he comes on stage with his pants on, he will probably exceed expectations.”

In Bordertown USA, Biden sends in troops — and Trump rubs his hands

Undocumented migration is already a problem for the White House. Next week it is expected to get much worse

Officer Sanchez of the El Paso police department on the US border with Mexico is bracing for a leap into the unknown.

He and his colleagues are already flat out dealing with thousands of illegal migrants crossing into the United States but they are expecting a surge in the number of arrivals after a controversial Trump-era entry restriction known as Title 42 expires in four days’ time.

“The fact is that on Thursday and after that, we don’t really know what is going to happen,” Sanchez said. “There could be a lot more people here, and that is a real concern.”

Crazy Old Man dismisses foreign interference in Liberal convention speech

Jean Chrétien dismisses foreign interference in Liberal convention speech

OTTAWA — Former prime minister Jean Chrétien rallied Liberal troops, told war stories and dismissed recent reports of foreign interference at the party’s Ottawa convention Friday evening.

The current Liberal government has been dogged by questions of foreign interference for most of 2023, with allegations that China interfered in the 2021 election, channelled donations to the Trudeau Foundation and, most recently, allegations that China was threatening a Conservative MP’s family.

The Liberal convention is a case of whistling past the graveyard.

Texas mall shooter Mauricio Garcia left callers to his cell phone a bizarre and garbled voicemail obsessing about money

The suspected neo-Nazi sympathizer who killed eight and wounded seven at an Allen, Texas, shopping mall left callers to his cell phone a bizarre and garbled voicemail greeting obsessing about money, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Instead of the usual ‘leave your name and number,’ mall shooter Mauricio Garcia’s personalized message asks his parents for money, and insists to his provider that his cell phone bill is already paid.

It also includes a dig at the federal government for not providing him with enough financial aid, as well as a jab at the deceased Dallas resident’s friends if they owed him money.

What We Know About the Chinese Diplomat Involved in Threat Against MP Chong’s Family

Following a recent media article reporting that Zhao Wei, a Chinese consul in Toronto, was involved in threatening Conservative MP Michael Chong’s family members in Hong Kong, there have been calls to expel Zhao from Canada. Here is what we know about him.

Zhao is a designated consular officer with the Chinese Consulate in Toronto, according to Global Affairs Canada. The consulate’s website and news release archives list him as team leader of the “Consular and Overseas Chinese Affairs Division.” He has held that position as early as November 2018.

It’s time for ‘pretendians’ to return the grant funding and honorary degrees

People falsely claiming Indigenous identity for opportunistic reasons is nothing new but the rise in this behaviour, or perhaps the rise in people being discovered, is disturbing.

We remember Grey Owl, the British writer, trapper and conservationist who pretended to be Indigenous after landing in Canada — a fabrication that wasn’t exposed until after his death in 1938.

What really divides America

Race and class distract from a greater cleavage

For almost a decade, the West has been engaged in a deepening conflict. Sometimes it flares up as a political debate; sometimes as a culture war. But whatever form it takes, it is inevitably framed as a disagreement between classes, races or ideologies.

This is a mistake. Demography may be destiny, but it is geography that determines its political shape. The greatest division today is to do with place: in particular, three basic terroirs — urban, suburban and rural — which reflect a divergence in economic interest, family structure and basic values, particularly between big city economies and those on the periphery.

University With Mostly Shakespeare Profs of Color Sees English Majors Disappear

When English courses go woke, do you stick around or do you go do something else?

The English major of a decade or two ago or today is very different. Within a fairly short span of time the traditional way of studying and analyzing texts has mostly been sidelined at universities in favor of identity politics readings. Look at the UCLA English courses and you’ll see a once respected department where half the courses are about race, sexuality, and assorted wokeness ‘lenses’ filtering out the actual books.

This has become commonplace and it’s anathema to anyone who actually loves words and books.

Black Grievance Politics Is Destroying Civilization

Without security, there is anarchy. And where there is anarchy, the state can command neither legitimacy nor respect.

Arguably, the greatest indictment of leftism is its preference for the vagrant and the criminal over the law-abiding citizen and victim. In politics, there are all kinds of disagreements about the role and scope of the state, but the one thing the state must do is protect the innocent.

Without security, there is anarchy. And where there is anarchy, the state can command neither legitimacy nor respect. Yet racial idolaters on the Left have pushed society to forgo basic expectations of public order and civilized conduct. Demanding anything more than day-to-day chaos would be cruel to “marginalized” people like deranged homeless black men on the subway.

Robert Kennedy Jr. Blames CIA for Assassination of JFK

Democratic White House contender Robert Kennedy Jr. recently blamed the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for the assassination of his uncle, President John F. Kennedy, in 1963.

Kennedy Jr., the son of assassinated Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, made the allegation on Sunday with John Catsimatidis on WABC 770 AM’s “Cats Roundtable.” Theories around JFK’s assassination have endured throughout the decades, with many others speculating that the CIA, former President Lyndon B. Johnson, the mafia, the Soviet KGB, Jackie Onassis Kennedy, or the Fidel Castro regime—or some combination thereof—were involved in his death.

Andoh said that the appearance of the Royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace following the ceremony was “terribly white”.

I was looking for a reason not to watch Bridgerton.

California panel approves reparations proposal of up to $1.2 million EACH for black residents… but activists demand more than $200 million at heated public meeting

California’s reparations task force has approved recommendations which could give black residents $1.2million each as compensation for slavery and discrimination.

The nine-member committee voted Saturday to approve proposals on how the state can compensate and apologize for generations of harm caused by discriminatory policies.

A black resident in California who has lived in the state their whole life until the age of 71 could receive more than $1.2million in compensation, if the recommendations are forged into law.

Murder by Kalashnikov: the drug war stalking Marseilles

Three months before the charred remains of Fatma Khaldi’s 22-year-old son, Reda, were found in a burnt-out car in the countryside near Marseilles, he told her something she will never forget.

“Unfortunately I am trapped in this world,” he said. “The only way out is prison or death.”

He was killed along with two other men one evening in December 2020, in one of the most brutal single episodes in a war between Kalashnikov-wielding drug gangs for control of France’s third city.
