Sounds like an equity hire bonanza …

World’s end: enjoy the decline

There’s an evergreen appeal to books about the world going to hell. There might be better or worse times to tell a story about civilization falling apart – the ‘30s and ‘70s were ripe for it; the ‘60s and ‘90s not so much. We’re in one of those doomsaying boom times again.

I think of Oswald Spengler publishing his ground-breaking feel-bad chart-topper The Decline of the West in 1918, just when no one would deny that things had gone very wrong and were likely going to get worse. He must have smiled tightly to himself as he anticipated the public reacting to his assertion that “we have to reckon with the hard cold facts of a late life, to which the parallel is to be found not in Pericles’ Athens but in Caesar’s Rome.”

Rex Murphy: Go green or go broke — the Liberals’ new budget does both

Budgets, like Bidens, bore me.

Like another in the fellowship of the great minds of our day, I pay no attention to monetary policy. Or to fiscal policy.

And what is a budget but a massive tool of that latter? Budgets get as much attention from “communications advisers” — the most empty phrase and occupation of our time — as they do from … people who might know something about the economy. Most likely more. Besides, budgetary promises do not stand up in time, at all.

‘Florida will not assist in an extradition’: DeSantis offers Trump sanctuary after former President’s attorney said he was expected to surrender in Manhattan next week

Florida Governor and 2024 rival Ron DeSantis offered Donald Trump a partial lifeline on Thursday, saying he would try to thwart the extradition of the former president from his state.

He made his promise after news broke that a Manhattan jury had voted to indict him over $130,000 in hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump said Democrats would regret ever persecuting an innocent man when his supporters dump them out of office.

Is this the reason Harry and Meghan stepped down as working Royals?

… But now Archewell have released tax filings for 2021 and they show what we all knew to be true the whole time. Meghan and Harry have spent the last three years doing very little at all. The documents show that the couple worked a grand total of one hour each a week at the foundation, racking up a time sheet of 52 hours in a year. Those chickens aren’t going to look after themselves.

RUBENSTEIN: Yes Canada, there is an indigenous genocide, at least if you also believe in Santa Claus

‘Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus’ is a line from an editorial by Francis Pharcellus Church titled, “Is There a Santa Claus?”

It appeared in the New York newspaper The Sun Sept. 21, 1897, and became one of the most famous editorials ever published. Written in response to a letter by eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon asking whether Santa Claus was real, the editorial became so popular over the years, The Sun began republishing it during the Christmas season, including every year from 1924 to 1950, when the paper ceased publication.

Axis vs. Allies, Then and Now

World War II was already a year old when Germany, Japan and Italy formally signed the Tripartite Pact in 1940, creating a military alliance among three nations intent on world domination. History would subsequently call them the Axis powers. It would be another year before America entered the conflict, but this Axis alliance of power sent a sharp and chilling message to Washington. There was no mistaking now that our nation, and our very civilization, was now in serious jeopardy.

In its wake, America accelerated its defense planning and just prior to the Axis pact being signed, the United States reintroduced the draft in recognition that, pact or no pact, democracy was at risk.

When a Trans Person Murders Christian Schoolchildren

The legacy media have a preset narrative machine when it comes to mass shootings. That narrative machine takes into account the identities of the shooter and the victims, and then churns out an explanation for the shooting. White shooter, black victims: systemic racism. Black shooter, white victims: alienation caused by systemic racism. Muslim shooter, gay victims: Christian homophobia.

Poilievre surpasses Trudeau when it comes to preferred prime minister: Nanos

The federal Liberals are trending downward on three key measures while Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has surpassed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when it comes to the question of who Canadians would prefer now as their prime minister, according to Nanos Research.

Ballot support has been trending negatively now for weeks for the Liberals, while it’s remained steady for the Conservatives; meanwhile, support for Trudeau as prime minister has taken a sharp downward turn as Poilievre’s personal numbers have risen to the point of surpassing Trudeau’s.

Canada mass shooting inquiry identifies many police failings

TRURO, Nova Scotia (AP) — A public inquiry has found widespread failures in how Canada’s federal police force responded to the country’s worst mass shooting and recommends that the government rethink the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s central role in the country’s policing.

In a seven-volume report released Thursday, the Mass Casualty Commission also says the RCMP missed red flags in the years leading up to the Nova Scotia rampage that resulted in 22 people being slain April 18-19, 2020 by a denture maker disguised as a RCMP officer and driving a replica police vehicle.

Interim ethics commissioner with family connection to Intergovernmental Affairs Minister LeBlanc raises red flags for critics

Party ethics critics are arguing that the recently announced appointment of a temporary ethics commissioner, who has family ties to a cabinet minister, raises conflict of interest concerns and may shake the trust Canadians have in their public institutions.

The Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner announced in a Twitter post on March 28 that Martine Richard will serve as the interim ethics commissioner for six months. Richard, who has been employed as general counsel in the ethics office since 2013 and as a senior general counsel since 2015, steps into her interim role following the retirement of former ethics commissioner Mario Dion on Feb. 21.

ISIS Bitch posted photos of herself with severed heads impaled on spikes

A 35-year-old ISIS supporter has been found guilty of war crimes after she posted photos from Syria of herself with severed heads on Facebook in 2014.

The Goteborg District Court in Sweden sentenced Fatosh Ibrahim, who pleaded not guilty, to three months in prison.

The court said on two occasions she published photographs of severed heads impaled on the fence that were placed there by so-called Islamic State militants in Raqqa.

Now if she had a Canadian passport she’d be looked after as a prized equity hire of the Trudeau government.

GOLDSTEIN: Trudeau promises deficits for as long as he’s in power

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s 2023 federal budget makes it clear the Liberals are never going to deliver a balanced budget to Canadian taxpayers, despite repeated claims they would, starting in 2015.

That means Canadians will be paying for Trudeau’s deficits long after he’s gone.

That’s the point Justin doesn’t give a crap about consequences or collateral damage he thinks only in terms of self-aggrandizing selfies.
