Will Biden push Canada to boost defence spending? Canadian ambassador weighs in

Canada’s ambassador to the United States says U.S. President Joe Biden may be less critical of Canada failing to meet its defence spending targets than former President Barack Obama was when the latter addressed Parliament.

When Biden makes his first official state visit to Canada this week, discussions around defence and security, Norad modernization, and how to deal with Russia and China are on the agenda.

The last American president to visit Ottawa — and to address Parliament — was Obama in 2016, when in a 50-minute speech he said: “NATO needs more Canada.”

CNN anchor Erin Burnett says evidence of Chinese money to Bidens ‘doesn’t look good’

CNN news anchor Erin Burnett admitted that evidence revealing that the Biden family received over a million dollars from accounts linked to Hunter Biden’s Chinese business dealings does not “look good” for the president’s family.

On her CNN program “Erin Burnett OutFront,” Burnett was discussing financial records revealing members of the Biden family payment from a CCP-linked company.

When Burnett asked her guest Ryan Goodman, co-editor-in-chief of “Just Security,” about the revelations, she admitted to him they don’t “look good.”

Alleged Oakland gang member runs out of luck after 18 chances

California’s soft-on-crime policies were on full display in a federal courtroom earlier this month when a reputed Oakland gang member was handed a 33-month sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Thanks to the state’s obsession with keeping inmates behind bars for as short a time as possible, the federal sentence of just under three years will likely result in more time served than the 15-year prison term imposed on Zayonta Casmire by the state of California back in 2016 on charges of conspiracy to commit attempted murder.

Claims of Chinese Election Meddling Put Trudeau on Defensive

OTTAWA — The leaked intelligence reports have set off a political firestorm. They describe plans by the government of China and its diplomats in Canada to ensure that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party took power in the last two elections, raising troubling questions about the integrity of Canada’s democracy.

But as two prominent Canadian news organizations have published a series of leaks over the past month, Mr. Trudeau has refused calls to launch a public inquiry into the matter, angering political opponents and leading to accusations that he is covering up foreign attempts to undermine his country’s elections.

The inside story of how the Liberals and NDP faced a crisis that shook their alliance — and why Justin Trudeau’s government survived it

OTTAWA—There were supposed to be no surprises.

It’s the bedrock of the Liberal-NDP deal — a simple notion that, despite the two parties’ competing political interests, neither would ever catch the other off guard.

But eight months into the governing agreement that could see the NDP prop up the minority Liberals until 2025, that principle was violated.

The Liberals had quietly introduced a series of amendments to their firearms bill. And the New Democrats were blindsided.

CNN correspondent reporting on San Francisco street crime falls victim to car break-in

A CNN correspondent in San Francisco to report on the city’s “rampant street crime” had her rental car broken into Friday — even with hired security tasked with watching the vehicle.

“Got robbed. Again,” Kyung Lah tweeted after the break-in with a picture of the car’s shattered rear-view window.

“We had security to watch our rental car + crew car. Thieves did this in under 4 seconds. This is ridiculous,” she wrote.

Justin Trudeau is failing a test of leadership

MONTREAL—If the debate over Chinese interference in Canada’s politics is a test of leadership, both Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre are going out of their way to fail it.

That starts with Trudeau, who came peculiarly late to the realization that the issue of the integrity of Canada’s democratic system could not be swept under the carpet. He has been playing catch up — with very relative success — since then.

Conservative judge abused at Stanford Law School say protesters told him they hoped his daughters would be RAPED, as it’s revealed they were angry at him for misgendering transgender pedophile

A conservative judge who was heckled at Stanford Law School has claimed student protestors screamed that they hoped his daughters would be raped before the equity dean ambushed him in ‘a staged public shaming’.

Fifth Circuit Judge Stuart Kyle Duncan, 51, who was appointed by Donald Trump, was asked to give a speech at the famous law school last week about the circuit’s Court of Appeals by the student chapter of the Federalist Society.

However, when he arrived at the school, he was met by around 100 students yelling obscenities at him, including one protester who told him: ‘We hope your daughters get raped.’

Adverse Events Risk in COVID Vaccine Trials Was One in 565, Doctor Tells National Citizen’s Inquiry

The Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines were associated with an excess risk of serious adverse events of special interest in about one in every 565 people, a U.S. doctor testified at the National Citizen’s Inquiry (NCI).

“That is quite a high number of serious adverse effects from a vaccine. We typically have withdrawn vaccines for one in 10,000,” said Dr. Joseph Fraiman, an emergency physician based in Louisiana who was the lead author of a peer-reviewed study that re-examined the original Pfizer and Moderna clinical trials for the COVID-19 vaccines.

The Atlantic’s raccoon dog Covid origin story fails to clear the first hurdle

The doctor it cites has never claimed the Wuhan wet market was the source of the virus

There is new evidence pointing to the origin of Covid being in the seafood market in Wuhan. That, at least, is the substance of a breathless piece published in the Atlantic. Specifically, Katherine Wu, the journalist who wrote the piece, had evidence suggesting that “raccoon dogs being illegally sold at the venue could have been carrying and possibly shedding the virus at the end of 2019.” Notice: “could have,” that old fallback of hype and spin.
