If Bakhmut Falls: What The Battle For A City Of Little Military Significance Means For The Ukraine War

A kettle. A cauldron. A pincer. A meat grinder. A carpet of corpses. A death trap.

A decisive battle?

Since at least August, a motley crew of Russian regular forces and soldiers from the notorious Wagner private mercenary company have been throwing World-War-I-style waves of infantry at Bakhmut, trying to dislodge Ukraine’s entrenched defense from the small city in the eastern Donetsk region.

That fighting was eclipsed in recent months by Ukraine’s counteroffensives to the north, in the Kharkiv region, and to the southwest, around Kherson, on the west bank of the Dnieper River.

Don’t kill me, Canada

Last month, one of many Super Bowl ads called on Americans to say “Thank You” to Canada for all it has contributed to our world.

Unfortunately, one of those contributions is a disturbing devotion to euthanasia.

Euthanasia is defined as the intentional killing of a patient suffering from an “incurable and painful disease” or in an irreversible coma. The practice is still illegal in most countries; Canada is an exception.

Nazis to the left of me; Muslims to the right of me: here I am, stuck in the middle, again

During Roman times Jews made up 10% of the population of the Roman Empire. Today, there should be 200 million Jews. There are only 15 million in a world of 8 billion: There are 2 billion Muslims, 2 billion Christians and Catholics.

Why is that?

Could it be innate, systemic endemic Jew hatred?

Look around- Nazis to the left of me; Muslims to the right of me: here I am, the Jew, stuck in the middle, again.

What we saw happen in Nazi Germany is happening in America. The Vanishing Jew. Not that America hasn’t been down that road, before. Instead of calling for the erasure of Jews because of “race,” it is now about diversity. Does it matter what the reason? The end result is the same

The myth of China’s military might

Beijing’s defence budget doesn’t tell the whole story

The day after Li Keqiang, China’s departing Prime Minister and the last of Beijing’s moderates, called for more market liberalisation to reach this year’s 5% growth target, Xi Jinping responded by announcing a muscle-flexing 7.2% increase in China’s defence spending. That is certainly consistent with Xi’s truculent stance (he replied to Nancy Pelosi’s recent Taiwan visit with a series of ballistic missile launches), and with his official promise to the Communist Party that China will become the world’s dominant power by 2049. But what do those percentages actually mean?

SPLC Stands Behind Lawyer Charged w/Domestic Terrorism

The emboldened Antifa types took their show on the road to Georgia in the battle over what they call ‘Cop City’. The Leftist attackers have been waging a guerrilla war with firebombs, lasers and guns, but local law enforcement isn’t as crippled as the cops and the feds were in Portland. One of these folks was shot. And others are discovering that their usual tactics aren’t getting them where they want to be.

Chris Rock’s righteous skewering of Meghan Markle

During his new Netflix stand-up special, Selective Outrage, Chris Rock has said what we’ve all long been thinking. That Meghan Markle’s claims to be a victim of royal racism are a pile of the proverbial.

‘Like, who is this girl Meghan Markle?’, asks Rock, during a section on people who are desperate to play the victim. ‘Seems like a nice lady – just complaining… Like, didn’t she hit the light-skinned lottery?’

Trudeau’s latest gambit to deflect attention from Liberals a disaster for democracy

Two weeks ago, Justin Trudeau was at pains to dismiss explosive reports of electoral interference as inaccurate or racist. But backed into a very tight corner, a desperate prime minister came out with all guns blazing on Monday.

It seemed Trudeau, whose job is looking increasingly precarious by the day, was intent on creating so much noise that it would drown out the calls for a public inquiry into this matter.

It Looks Like AOC Is a Crook! How Shocked Are You?

Congressional investigators say she might have violated House ethics rules and federal law.

What we know about our socialist superiors can be boiled down to one simple fact: both Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez died richer than Mitt Romney.

Hell, by the time it’s over, it’s probably going to be true that Barack Obama does as well.

Everything about that garbage ideology is a lie, and the most conspicuous proof is that the people who espouse it are garbage of the worst sort.

In NordStream bombings probe, German investigators see Ukraine link, reports say

BERLIN — German prosecutors have found “traces” of evidence indicating that Ukrainians may have been involved in the explosions that blew up the Nord Stream gas pipelines in September 2022, according to German media reports Tuesday.

Investigators identified a boat that was potentially used for transporting a crew of six people, diving equipment and explosives into the Baltic Sea in early September. Charges were then placed on the pipelines, according to a joint investigation by German public broadcasters ARD and SWR as well as the newspaper Die Zeit.

The German reports said that the yacht had been rented from a company based in Poland that is “apparently owned by two Ukrainians.”

From the Guardian – Officials believe pro-Ukraine group may have sabotaged Nord Stream – reports

European and US intelligence officials have obtained tentative intelligence to suggest a pro-Ukrainian saboteur group may have been behind the bombing of the Nord Stream gas pipelines last year, according to reports in the New York Times and German newspaper Die Zeit.

German investigators believe the attack on the pipelines was carried out by a team of six people, using a yacht that had been hired by a company registered in Poland and owned by two Ukrainian citizens, according to Die Zeit.

The information has been shared between European intelligence agencies in an effort to establish more information about those who carried out the undersea bombings in September, an attack that had left western governments perplexed.

Now Germany suspects an unknown “Ukraine Affiliated” group of sabotaging the pipelines. The Politico story seems fanciful, a hired boat was returned “uncleaned” leaving convenient traces of explosives to be discovered.

It will be interesting to how the German and Euro public in general react to this. It can’t be good for the alliance.

Who wants to foot the war bill for an ally who caused you an energy crisis?

Poilievre accuses Trudeau of playing into China’s hands by refusing public inquiry on foreign interference

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre accused Prime Minster Justin Trudeau of playing into China’s hands by refusing to hold a public inquiry on foreign interference.

Mr. Poilievre called a news conference Tuesday to respond to the Prime Minister’s decision to name two closed door panels to investigate Chinese election interference that would later be reviewed by a special rapporteur appointed by him.

The Daring Ruse That Exposed China’s Campaign to Steal American Secrets

How the downfall of one intelligence agent revealed the astonishing depth of Chinese industrial espionage.

In March 2017, an engineer at G.E. Aviation in Cincinnati whom I will refer to using part of his Chinese given name — received a request on LinkedIn. Hua is in his 40s, tall and athletic, with a boyish face that makes him look a decade younger. He moved to the United States from China in 2003 for graduate studies in structural engineering. After earning his Ph.D. in 2007, he went to work for G.E., first at the company’s research facility in Niskayuna, N.Y., for a few years, then at G.E. Aviation.

The LinkedIn request came from Chen Feng, a school official at the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (N.U.A.A.), in eastern China. Like most people who use LinkedIn, Hua was accustomed to connecting with professionals on the site whom he didn’t know personally, so the request did not strike him as unusual. “I didn’t even think much about it before accepting,” Hua told me. Days later, Chen sent him an email inviting him to N.U.A.A. to give a research presentation.

Trudeau launches an investigation into everything but his government, his party or himself

That was a neat trick the Prime Minister pulled off Monday evening.

I don’t mean just the breathtaking change in communications strategy, on the issue that threatens to devour his government: foreign (specifically Chinese) interference in our elections. The sullen stonewalling of the last several weeks was instantly transformed into a dazzling pinwheel of apparent activity: multiple investigations, a pledge to consult on implementing a foreign agent registry, a promise to appoint a National Counter Foreign Interference Co-ordinator, a vow to start implementing some of the recommendations it had received from previous investigations, etc.

Canada roiled by leaked intelligence reports of Chinese election ‘meddling’

A flurry of leaked intelligence reports has reignited allegations that China interfered in Canada’s recent federal elections, kicking off a fierce debate over possible responses to Beijing’s meddling.

But the leaks also run the risk of harming Canada’s reputation among its allies, experts warn, as the country’s spy agency struggles to respond to mounting public concern.

Opposition leaders have pushed the prime minister, Justin Trudeau, for a public inquiry into how China attempted to sway the result of two federal elections in its favour.
