Top spy suggests leakers are unhappy with PM’s handling of Chinese interference … why assume it’s CSIS staff?

The head of Canada’s spy service says an investigation is under way to find the leakers of highly classified information on Chinese election interference, and suggested the whistleblowers may have been frustrated with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s handling of Beijing’s activities in the democratic process.

Appearing before a Commons committee investigating Chinese interference, David Vigneault, director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, declined to answer questions about whether the government ignored warnings of China’s influence operations in the 2019 and 2021 elections.

FEARLESS SPECULATION: The leakers will never be caught because they aren’t CSIS.

RCMP alleges ‘major’ cache of firearms, neo-Nazi material found in home west of Montreal; charges laid

Two brothers are facing several firearms charges after a “very significant” stash of guns and ammunition was allegedly found in a home west of Montreal, according the RCMP. Officers also allegedly found neo-Nazi material inside the residence.

The police force’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) raided a home in the off-island suburb of Vaudreuil-Dorion last November after receiving a tip from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

The CBSA had information that the accused were buying several weapons from legitimate and illegal sources online in order to sell them on the black market, the RCMP alleged.

Canadians Fume as Migrants Surge at Their Border

Hélène Gravel’s house sits on Roxham Road near Canada’s most famous illegal border crossing, used by migrants leaving the United States to seek asylum up north. She has watched with increasing frustration as a bitter winter has failed to stanch record inflows and as New York City even began buying bus tickets for migrants headed her way.

“There’s no political will to fix this,’’ Ms. Gravel, 77, said in her driveway, a stone’s throw from the border.

“Canada is soft,’’ she said, adding that asylum-seekers should be processed at official border crossings. “And the United States doesn’t care because this is nothing compared with what’s happening on their southern border.”

Rex Murphy: China’s interference is an outrage. Trudeau dismissing it, an even greater outrage

Or some tiny, ineffectual statelet whose name we scarcely know having a bit of geopolitical fun.

It was the cruel, duplicitous, secretive, dictatorship of Communist China — of all the great powers of the world, the cruellest, the most duplicitous. According to the solid reporting of the Globe and Mail and Global news, Canadians know that the government of Communist China sought to leverage the Canadian election to favour the Trudeau Liberals.

The Rise of the Right-Wing Peacenik

Once upon a time, Congressman Ron DeSantis strongly supported arming Ukraine against Russia.

That was in 2015, in the wake of Russia’s last invasion of its neighbor to the southwest—when Barack Obama was president and, more importantly, before Donald Trump replaced him.

Now, Governor DeSantis is thought to be eyeing the White House himself, and the Republican landscape has changed dramatically—and so has his position on Ukraine.

Digital Currency and You

All these projects to digitize the world are also programs to digitize you, to turn you into a virtual rather than real human being.

The most egregious act that brought the world’s attention to the Canadian truckers’ Freedom Convoy was when Justin Trudeau ordered banks to freeze the accounts not only of peaceful protesters but also of their financial supporters and even some people related only by association, such as ex-spouses. This move inspired so much outrage that, in a somewhat unprecedented fashion, this feckless prime minister was later excoriated to his face by some members of the European Parliament. In a blistering speech that went viral, MEP Mislav Kolakušić of Croatia declaimed, “You block the bank accounts of single parents so that they can’t even pay their children’s education and medicine, that they can’t pay utilities, mortgages for their homes,” and so forth.

The new age of the con man

In 2023, the hustlers are everywhere

In the precarious world economy of 2023, everyone is selling you something — and much of that something doesn’t amount to anything. Companies, of course, sell you products and services; much of their junk amounts to solutions for problems that didn’t previously exist, though at least there’s still some sort of deliverable. Meanwhile, in worlds as essential to human flourishing as personal finance and bodily fitness, an ever-expanding class of so-called “influencers” are selling a whole lot of nothing dressed up as something. Their underlying success, ostensibly tied to their ability to help people become richer or fitter, depends in actuality on their ability to sell advice or investment opportunities that are likely only to enrich themselves.

Our NATO Brother – Turkey: Islamist Sex with Children Is Fine; Condemning It Is an Offense

This unpleasant story persists. Islamists, citing the hadith – a dubious source of Prophet Mohammed’s sayings written 200 years after his death and on which Islamist scholars have never agreed for 14 centuries — defend their lust for underage girls. [Here is a long list of Turkish Islamist practices of pedophilia in the past years.]

Most recently, in November, Turkey was shocked at news that a prominent Islamic sheik, the leader of a religious order fiercely devoted to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, had married off his six-year-old daughter to a 29-year-old disciple. Six! The girl had been forced into sex and became a mother at 14. She complained to the prosecutor’s office, but Erdogan’s authorities apparently did not want to bother the sheik.
