Erdogan’s Turkey: The NATO Member That Sponsors Terrorism

Erdogan’s Turkey: The NATO Member That Sponsors Terrorism

For years, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been playing a sleazy double game: presenting himself to the West as a regional mediator and responsible NATO ally while simultaneously transforming Turkey into a sanctuary for Hamas terrorists outside the Gaza Strip.

New revelations emerging from Israeli security investigations have shattered any illusion that Turkey’s relationship with Hamas is limited to “political support” or “diplomatic engagement.” The evidence increasingly points to a situation far more alarming: Turkey has become a primary operational, logistical, and financial hub for Hamas’s global terror infrastructure.

Selling F-35s to Turkey Guarantees a New War against Israel

US President Donald Trump may believe that selling F-35 stealth warplanes to Turkey will help the country forge closer ties with the US at the expense of Russia. The reality, though, is that by providing such sophisticated fighter jets to a country that supports Hamas terrorists — and whose president recently said that “Israel will have no choice but to kneel in front of Turkey” — Trump is merely stoking the flames of a future war aimed at destroying Israel.

Turkey Is Thwarting Trump’s Attempts to Disarm Hamas, Achieve Peace in the Middle East

Attempts by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to play a key role in plans to form an “international security force” for Gaza pose a serious threat to US President Donald J. Trump’s efforts to disarm Hamas terrorists and augur poorly for his efforts to bring peace to the Middle East.

A key requirement of Trump’s 20-point plan to end the Gaza conflict is for Hamas to disarm and end its malign control of the Gaza Strip. Only then will negotiations begin on finding a lasting ceasefire agreement and rebuilding the enclave for an enduring peace after two years of brutal conflict.

Turkey: Sweeping Arrests, Torture, Censorship

On March 19, just days before the March 23 primaries of Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Istanbul’s Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu — the CHP’s leading candidate who was thought by many possibly to win the next presidential election against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan — was arrested on contested charges of “corruption and terrorism.”

A day earlier, on March 18, Imamoglu’s university degree was revoked, “citing ‘nullity’ and ‘clear error’ as grounds for cancellation… The decision affects Imamoglu and 27 other individuals whose academic credentials have now been invalidated….” according to Turkiye Today.

Turkey: An Air Force Without Wings

Turkey, once NATO’s staunch southeastern flank sentinel against the Soviet Union, still operates the alliance’s second-largest military. These days, NATO’s second-largest military has a problem with its aerial firepower.

Turks are proud that their Air Force (TuAF) is the world’s ninth-largest. But it is not necessarily the ninth-strongest. According to the World Directory of Modern Military Aircraft, TuAF is not among the world’s top 15 militaries listed. Turkey has 110 attack helicopters and 205 fighter/interceptor aircraft, according to Global Firepower. But its fleet of 1,065 military aircraft includes no dedicated attack aircraft.
