Passengers using Air Canada’s proposed facial recognition ID system will enjoy a slightly less cattle like boarding experience for submitting willingly

Air Canada announced it has launched digital identification, becoming the first airline in Canada with approval to offer customers the safety and convenience of a new option using facial recognition technology to confirm identification. In a pilot project currently underway, Air Canada’s digital identification is now available for customers departing from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) when boarding select flights to Winnipeg, and for eligible customers entering the Air Canada Café at Toronto Pearson International Airport. Air Canada plans to expand digital identification options to select Canadian airports and Maple Leaf Lounges as part of its pilot project phase.

… Customers choosing to use digital identification will benefit from a simplified and seamless process at the gate and when entering our Maple Leaf Lounges,” said Craig Landry, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer at Air Canada.

Gee thanks Big Brother!

Canadian military found Chinese monitoring buoys in the Arctic

The Canadian military found and retrieved Chinese monitoring buoys in the Arctic this past fall, a development whose public exposure adds another item to a list of pressing concerns about Beijing’s interventions in Canadian affairs, including interference in recent federal elections.

The buoys were spotted by the Canadian Armed Forces as part of Operation Limpid, a continuing effort to provide early detection of threats to Canada’s security. Earlier this month, the North American Aerospace Defence Command shot down a different Chinese surveillance device: a high-altitude balloon that traversed North America before it was destroyed.

The LPC and the corporate class must be getting greased pretty good by the ChiComs and Canada’s China class.

Junior seems always willing to kowtow to Beijing in order not to offend the CCP’s embedded 5th column.

There has to be a reason for it. What do they have on Junior & Co?

All should wear Mark of the Beast says Tony Blair

Give digital IDs to all, urge Tony Blair and William Hague

Everyone in Britain should be given a digital ID incorporating their passport, driving licence, tax records, qualifications and right to work as the cornerstone of a “technology revolution”, Sir Tony Blair and Lord Hague of Richmond say today.

Writing in The Times, the former prime minister and former Conservative leader say that the British state is no longer fit for purpose and must be dramatically reshaped if the country is to avoid being left behind by global technological advances.

UK Anti-Terror Programme Lists Reading 1984 as a Sign of “Far-Right” Extremism

Reading George Orwell’s 1984 or Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World among dozens of classic books and television shows is a sign that you could be a far-right extremist, a leaked document from a UK anti-terrorism programme reportedly claims.

A 2019 document said to have leaked from the UK’s much-criticised Prevent anti-terrorism programme has claimed that someone reading George Orwell’s 1984 or Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World should be viewed as potential warning signs of extremism, with the internal paper listing a wide range of other seminal pieces of media as being red flags indicating someone may hold radical views.

Accused extremist recruiter expected to plead guilty to terrorism charges

OTTAWA – An accused extremist recruiter is returning to the Ontario Superior Court on Thursday and is expected to plead guilty to terrorism offences, eight years after he was first charged.

Awso Peshdary’s criminal trial had been on hold pending a decision in Federal Court, where his lawyers were arguing that charges should be dropped because Canada’s spy agency was authorized to surveil him based on misleading information.

That name goes way back, back to the days of Project Samosa and the Blood Libel MasterCard.

University used ChatGPT to console students after shootings

A university in Tennessee has apologised for sending students a message about a mass shooting written by a chatbot.

The office of equity, diversity and inclusion at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College in Nashville told students: “One of the key ways to promote a culture of care on our campus is through building strong relationships with one another” — apparently intended to comfort them after three people were shot dead at Michigan State University last week.

What is this government doing to protect Canada’s sovereignty against China?

Canadians in every corner of this country need to be alarmed by the latest evidence that China has criminally interfered with, and attempted to influence the results of, Canada’s last two federal elections in 2019 and 2021.

But perhaps equally concerning is the Canadian government’s languid response to these shocking reports – compiled by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), but revealed in The Globe and Mail – which detail an extensive scheme meant to corrupt our elections and determine which political party forms Canada’s federal government, as well as the kind of power the elected government would be allowed to wield.

I would not be at all surprised if the ChiComs had dirt on Junior.

Taliban bans contraception calling use a ‘western conspiracy’

Taliban fighters have stopped the sale of contraceptives in two of Afghanistan’s main cities, claiming their use by women is a western conspiracy to control the Muslim population.

The Guardian has learned that the Taliban has been going door to door, threatening midwives and ordering pharmacies to clear their shelves of all birth control medicines and devices.

“They came to my store twice with guns and threatened me not to keep contraceptive pills for sale. They are regularly checking every pharmacy in Kabul and we have stopped selling the products,” said one store owner in the city.

I agree with the Taliban.

Meet the female drone pilots hunting Russian troops in Ukraine

The pilot usually smears lip balm on the rotors of her drone before launch. If none is available, she uses bacon grease instead. Both methods prevent the drone from freezing in flight and plunging to the ground: lessons from the front, not found in any flight manual, that she has learnt in the extreme sub-zero temperatures of the winter war, where Leyla plies her trade hunting Russian troops.

Mexico’s Ex-Top Security Official Is Convicted of Cartel Bribery

Genaro García Luna, once the architect and public face of Mexico’s bloody war on its powerful criminal groups, was convicted on Tuesday in a New York courtroom of betraying his country and colleagues by taking millions of dollars in bribes from the violent drug cartels he was meant to be pursuing.

The guilty verdict, which came after three days of deliberation in Federal District Court in Brooklyn, was a stunning downfall for Mr. García Luna, a jut-jawed former law-enforcement officer who was so enmeshed in his country’s security establishment that he was often described as the J. Edgar Hoover of Mexico.

Economic Suicide? Italy Leads Opposition to EU 2035 Ban on Fossil Fuel Cars

On Tuesday, February 14th, the European Parliament voted—340 in favour, 279 against—for legislation to phase out the sale of carbon-emitting gas and diesel vehicles by 2035. The vote endorsed a compromise agreement already reached by the European Council in October 2022, which laid out a roadmap for removing fossil fuel-powered vehicles by midcentury on Europe’s roads.

Under the new rules, manufacturers will be forced to meet a 100% CO2 emissions cut in new vehicles sold by 2035, with new regulations established for monitoring emissions. The new legislation will also hasten emission cuts ahead of schedule, with cars manufactured in 2030 legally required to have reduced emissions by 55% compared to 2021 levels, an increase on the previously agreed 37.5%.
