The saddest thing I saw this week was a dating advert written by a woman — let’s call her Jane — looking for a man to start a family with.

There was nothing sad about Jane per se: she’s attractive and accomplished in the usual alarming millennial way. Not only does she have a well-paid job in a tech firm, but she climbs, plays the cello, writes plays and is a near-professional baker. Because young people these days don’t drink until they pass out, they have time for hobbies.

LAST Sunday the BBC reported the increasingly violent sectarian clashes between Hindus and Muslims in Leicester, sparked by the result of a cricket match some weeks ago on another continent. With exquisite timing, a Sunday Times article by Sarfraz Manzoor told us that ‘Now is the time to acknowledge our empire’s sins’. He was prompted to write it after seeing the play Silence on the day our Queen died. It’s about the bloodletting which resulted ‘from the tragedy of [Indian] partition – a mayhem made in Britain’. But this carnage was by no means caused by ‘our empire’.

COUTTS, Alberta — The village’s only restaurant offers smiles and two pamphlets, one denouncing Covid-19 vaccines for children, the other saying the United Nations’ mission includes creating a “microchipped society” for “tracking and controlling.”

So pervasive is the belief here that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is a dictator-in-the-making that even a top official in the village admits she “may have” a flag telling Canada’s leader where to go — rudely.

At the start of the year, McDonald’s launched a plant-based burger “sizzled on a flat-iron grill, then topped with slivered onions, tangy pickles, crisp shredded lettuce, Roma tomato slices, ketchup, mustard, mayo and a slice of melty American cheese”. For a while, it looked like a glimpse of the future.

The US test run of the McPlant burger was quietly shelved last month (it is still available in some markets, including the UK) in one of a series of setbacks for a meatless-meat industry that only a year ago was claiming it could change the great American menu for ever.

The massive increase in Islamic immigration has wreaked havoc on the politics, society and culture of the West, which is today seriously grappling with the problem of an altered demographic profile of their countries, besides increasing crime rates and terror attacks. The recent outbreak of violence against the Indian community in Leicester, England, has again drawn our attention to the serious existential crisis that Europe is going through, fuelled largely by Islamic immigration. It was this same continent that once happened to be the flagbearer of the lofty ideals of multiculturalism and melting-pot societies.

Nothing like this has ever happened before. The 2.1 million figure represents an all-time high, surpassing the previous record of 1.7 million, set in fiscal year 2021. That is to say, every year President Joe Biden has been in office has been a record-breaking year of illegal immigration. Biden’s policies are directly responsible for the ongoing border crisis, which will continue unabated until those policies change. GOP House Judiciary members send legal demand to ex-FBI agent Timothy Thibault

Top Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee fired off a letter Friday to former FBI agent Timothy Thibault, warning him to preserve any and all documents related to his work on the Hunter Biden investigation.

“Whistleblowers have come to Congress alleging that you were part of a scheme to undermine and discredit allegations of criminal wrongdoing by members of the Biden family. Accordingly, we believe that you possess information relating to our investigation and we request your assistance with our inquiry,” wrote Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the committee’s ranking member, in the note obtained by The Post.
