“Human rights” culture is now an active threat to the rule of law

Boris Johnson’s Rwanda deportation policy has descended into a circular farce.

The British government wanted to deport illegal asylum-seekers to Rwanda, under an agreement reached with that country. It intended to fly out the first such group yesterday.

A succession of appeals by human rights lawyers had reduced the proposed number of deportees from 130 to seven. Last night, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg ruled against the removal of the migrants — who included an Iraqi, an Iranian, a Vietnamese and an Albanian — thus grounding the flight half an hour before it was due to leave.

Recently the Biden administration issued new answers for Americans invested in Chinese companies with direct ties to Beijing’s military. Previously, U.S. policy was that Americans were forbidden to invest in companies included in a “blacklist” of Chinese companies directly involved in China’s military, and in producing applications used by the Communist regime to oppress its own people and threaten its neighbors. The new “answers” amount to a wholesale abandonment of a policy Americans of all political stripes supported.

Major water cutbacks loom as shrinking Colorado River nears ‘moment of reckoning’

As the West endures another year of unrelenting drought worsened by climate change, the Colorado River’s reservoirs have declined so low that major water cuts will be necessary next year to reduce risks of supplies reaching perilously low levels, a top federal water official said Tuesday.

Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Camille Calimlim Touton said during a Senate hearing in Washington that federal officials now believe protecting “critical levels” at the country’s largest reservoirs — Lake Mead and Lake Powell — will require much larger reductions in water deliveries.

US report: nearly 400 crashes of automated tech vehicles

DETROIT (AP) — Automakers reported nearly 400 crashes of vehicles with partially automated driver-assist systems, including 273 involving Teslas, according to statistics released by U.S. safety regulators on Wednesday.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration cautioned against using the numbers to compare automakers, saying it didn’t weight them by the number of vehicles from each manufacturer that use the systems, or how many miles those vehicles traveled.

Surveys of more than 93,000 people across 46 counties, found that political allegiances made a ‘striking difference’ to why people avoid news.

The findings were revealed in a new report by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.

Texas Gov. Abbott’s notes shed light on who ‘misled’ him during school shooting

Handwritten notes Texas Gov. Greg Abbott used after the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde reportedly shed new light on his erroneous comments about the police response — and raise questions about who allegedly “misled” him about the officers’ performance.

Abbott, who initially praised police for their “quick response” to the massacre, later said he was “livid” after being “misled” into saying responding officers had “engaged with the gunman” outside the school before he entered the building.

US fighters ‘captured’ by Russian forces in Ukraine

Two former US servicemen have been captured during fighting with Russian forces in Ukraine, The Telegraph has been told.

The pair were taken prisoner during a fierce battle outside the north-east city of Kharkiv last week, according to comrades who were fighting alongside them.

Alexander Drueke, 39, and Andy Huynh, 27, had been serving as volunteers with a regular Ukrainian army unit. They are believed to be the first US servicemen to end up as Russian prisoners of war.

Key ‘Freedom Convoy’ figure pleads guilty to counselling mischief, released from jail

Tyson “Freedom George” Billings emerged from the Ottawa courthouse Wednesday brandishing a Canada flag to a torrent of cheers and airhorns after pleading guilty to a charge related to the convoy protest that seized the city earlier this year.

Billings spent 116 days in jail before pleading guilty to counselling to commit mischief. Other charges, including intimidation, obstructing police, mischief and disobeying a court order, were withdrawn by the Crown.

Timothy Caulfield has spent the pandemic battling bunk science and lies.

The course of COVID-19 has seen more Canadians spiral into the realm of conspiracy theories and it’s kept the misinformation expert busy.

So busy, he says, he felt he didn’t have time to really delve into one, particular conspiracy theory that was gaining traction: the racist lie that there is a co-ordinated effort to replace white people with immigrants, in what is known as the Great Replacement theory.

You know they’re running scared when ham-fisted efforts to label anyone who questions immigration policy as a “far-right” racist start turning up. The goal, plain and simple, is to stifle debate and even criminalize dissent. 

Sorry Star but the jig is up. Multiculturalism and Diversity are widely and correctly viewed as toxic lies used to justify a Mass Immigration policy that is designed to sate corporate greed and buy votes for our vile political class. It sure as hell isn’t designed to benefit citizens.

Besides it’s not a conspiracy if it’s true. 

Opinion: Canada replacing its population a case of wilful ignorance, greed, excess political correctness

According to University of London professor Eric Kaufmann, almost seven out of 10 Vancouver residents will be “visible minorities” within two generations and 80 per cent of the Canadian population (compared to 20 per cent today) will be non-white in less than century.

Kaufmann notes that, with its continuing high immigration intake and the fact that four out of five newcomers are visible minorities, Canada is undergoing the fastest rate of ethnic change of any country in the Western world.

Questions must be asked about why such drastic population replacement is taking place and who is benefiting from it.

While Canada has been helped by large-scale immigration at various times in its history, the current high intake causes more problems than benefits for our current population. Our economy grows because of the increasing population, but the average Canadian gets a smaller piece of the bigger pie. The cost is huge — with latest estimates indicating taxpayers have to underwrite recent arrivals to the tune of around $30 billion annually. Young people in large cities such as Vancouver and Toronto are being crowded out of the housing market by sky-high prices caused largely by the ceaseless flow of new arrivals, and the quality of life of most residents is negatively effected by increased traffic and commute times, along with congestion and pressure on the health care and education systems.

The risk to Canada’s economic reputation was behind the federal government’s invocation of the Emergencies Act to deter the “Freedom Convoy” blockades across the country, the deputy prime minister and finance minister repeatedly told MPs Tuesday.

But Chrystia Freeland — the highest-ranking minister yet to appear before the special committee investigating the government’s unprecedented use of emergency powers — would not share specific data that would have been available at the time the Act was invoked, which would have shown the protests were damaging the national economy.

Despite the highly publicized blockades at Ontario’s Ambassador Bridge and Coutts crossing in Alberta, cross-border trade in Ontario and Alberta was up 16 per cent in February, compared to the same month last year, according to data from Statistics Canada.

And while some businesses were impacted by the blockades, the trade figures also raise questions about the government’s use of the Emergencies Act – a decision, in part, justified by “threats to (Canada’s) economic security” brought about by the blockades.
