Gwyn Morgan: Hard facts puncture anti-fossil fuel fantasies

The belief that 84% of global energy supplied by oil and gas can be replaced by so-called ‘green energy’ is a fantasy

The marvellous Christmas movie Polar Express, starring the inimitable Tom Hanks, ends with the words “anything is possible, if you only believe.” Except, as adults understand, many things aren’t possible, not even if some people do believe them. An obvious example is the fantasy that the 84 per cent of global energy supplied by oil and gas can be replaced by so-called “green energy.”

Groomers Say Kids Will Be Exposed to ‘Nudity and Kink’ at Pride Parades, But Don’t Worry, It’s ‘Educational’

The groomers are everywhere these days, but nowhere are they more visible than at LGBTQ “Pride” parades, where every kind of debauchery imaginable is on full display in neighborhoods and on city streets around the world. A website called Fatherly warns in its Parenting section that pride parades are “filled with sights that may be new to kids, like public nudity and kink. Not to mention that Pride parades aren’t the most sober of places.”

Major corporate donors silent on Black Lives Matter’s alleged self-dealing

Major corporations that made a show out of cutting checks to the national Black Lives Matter group in the aftermath of George Floyd’s police killing in May 2020 now have nothing to say about the charity’s alleged self-dealing.

Seventeen corporations that publicly committed at least $100,000 to Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation in the days following Floyd’s killing either declined to comment or did not respond to inquiries from the Washington Examiner asking if they approved of the charity’s use of their donations to purchase a $6 million mansion in Los Angeles secretly and award lucrative contracts to the family members and friends of BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors, who had sole control over the charity until May 2021.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle booed at Platinum Jubilee church service

Megxit remains polarizing.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were greeted with both boos and cheers at the Platinum Jubilee church service Friday, with the jeers trying to outdo the excitement over their arrival.

The loud booing could be heard as the couple — who live in Santa Barbara, Calif., following their dramatic 2020 exit from the royal family — left St. Paul’s Cathedral in London holding hands.

Military has tried to transfer 62 sexual offence files to civilian police — but half were rejected

Military police in Canada have tried to transfer 62 sexual assault cases to civilian police forces since last fall — but about half of those files have been declined and sent back.

The Canadian Armed Forces released new figures in response to requests from CBC News and the release of a blistering independent report on the military’s ongoing sexual misconduct crisis.

Canadian Armed Forces Provost Marshal Brig.-Gen. Simon Trudeau confirmed the military has attempted to transfer 49 new sexual offence cases to civilian police since November 2021. Police forces accepted 22 of the files and rejected 27.

What Doug Ford can teach the federal Conservative party

Premier Doug Ford’s re-election Thursday evening was watched closely by federal Conservatives looking for lessons on how to bring their party back to power after three straight election losses.

The main takeaway from multiple party insiders – including those helping to run leadership campaigns – was that the federal Conservatives need to emulate Ford’s blue-collar messaging and build a new voter coalition to take on Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party.

Well maybe not really, private sector unions represent only a small segment of the workforce. The public service union predator class are wed to the Libs and NDP.

Russia may be in Ukraine to stay after 100 days of war

When Vladimir Putin sent troops into Ukraine in late February, the Russian president vowed his forces would not occupy the neighboring country. But as the invasion reached its 100th day Friday, Russia seemed increasingly unlikely to relinquish the territory it has taken in the war.

The ruble is now an official currency in the southern Kherson region, alongside the Ukrainian hryvnia. Residents there and in Russia-controlled parts of the Zaporizhzhia region are getting offered Russian passports. The Kremlin-installed administrations in both regions have talked about plans to become part of Russia.

And – Oil Execs Cash Out Like Crazy While Gas Prices Soak Americans

Gas prices have skyrocketed to record highs, forcing some families to choose between filling their tank and putting food on the table. But for the oil execs whose stock holdings have soared, these are happy days—and some of them are cashing in their shares at unusually high rates.

I swear the purpose of this war was to condition us to accept the uninterrupted flow of commerce between belligerents. What next? War profiteering is declared patriotic? A win for the elites.

Ford Victory round-up

Natpo – Deja blue: Doug Ford PCs roar to a second majority win in Ontario

Premier Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives scored a commanding victory in Thursday’s Ontario election, capturing another majority government as the leaders of the opposition NDP and Liberals announced they were resigning after bitterly disappointing results.

Globe – Ontario election: Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives win second majority

Premier Doug Ford has easily won a second majority government after a roller-coaster term dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic, with both NDP and Liberal leaders resigning in the face of failures by their parties to mount serious challenges to the Progressive Conservative juggernaut.

His party was leading or elected in 83 seats, a gain of seven seats from its results in 2018, with 41 per cent of the popular vote.

Star – Doug Ford trounces the competition as Steven Del Duca and Andrea Horwath resign as party leaders

Ford more years.

Ontario voters gave Premier Doug Ford another four-year term Thursday in a resounding election victory for the Progressive Conservatives that reduced the size of the NDP opposition and left the Liberals banished to the political wilderness.

Both NDP Leader Andrea Horwath and Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca resigned their posts.

CBC – How Doug Ford’s PCs won their 2nd straight Ontario election

Doug Ford’s journey to winning the Ontario election and securing a second straight majority really began on St. Patrick’s Day in 2020, the day he declared a state of emergency over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Until that moment, Ford’s Progressive Conservative government bore the aroma of a one-term wonder, mired in nepotism scandals and so unpopular that the premier got booed at the otherwise joyful Toronto Raptors victory parade.

Global – Ontario Progressive Conservatives win another majority government

The Ontario Progressive Conservatives have won a second consecutive majority government, with PC candidates having been elected in 83 ridings.

That’s seven more than in the previous election and well above the minimum 63 required for a majority.

CTV – Doug Ford re-elected as Ontario premier with majority government

Doug Ford has been re-elected as premier of Ontario with a majority government, CTV News declares.

Polls closed across the province at 9 p.m. on Thursday and shortly after CTV News declared the Progressive Conservative leader the winner of the 2022 election.

At Toronto Congress Centre in Etobicoke, Ford celebrated his second mandate to wild applause and shouts of “four more years.”

I heard voter turnout was estimated at 45% down significantly from the 57% turnout in 2018.

The Real Reason Why Mass Shooters Kill

Tucker Carlson almost said it.  He went right up to the edge and then drew back.  He wheeled the cannon on stage, but he did not fire it.

Carlson almost blurted out the most taboo truth in Washington, the unutterable heresy that the political class suppresses more ruthlessly than any other.  He asked us to consider — after eliminating all the standard leftist cliches and a few rightist ones — why do these young shooters keep committing mass murder?  What characteristic do they all share?  What is going on here, and why can we not even discuss it?

Net Zero is a Stalinist fantasy

The UK government is imposing ever more drastic and coercive measures to meet its carbon targets.

As energy prices soar, behind the scenes, the UK government is planning to make it even harder to heat our homes. The government is threatening to force manufacturers of gas boilers to switch to making heat pumps. From 2024 onwards, Whitehall plans to levy severe fines on UK-based boiler manufacturers that fail to meet production targets for heat pumps, hitting them with a £5,000 penalty for each failure to deliver a unit.

These Stalinist reprisals are the latest absurdity to result from the government’s hell-bent pursuit of Net Zero. To meet Net Zero carbon targets, the number of heat pumps installed in homes each year will have to multiply 12-fold over the next six years – from about 50,000 today to 600,000 by 2028. This would be a remarkable feat, given that to buy a heat pump and install a complete system currently costs between £8,000 and £28,000. Meanwhile, a working boiler system comes in at just £2,000 to £3,000.

Don’t Believe Elon Musk’s False Satellite Promises

As he opportunistically elbows out competitors, Musk’s satellite launch and operating business has been systematically crowding out the Earth’s orbit.

The war in Ukraine has been good for Elon Musk, allowing him to grab headlines and commercial opportunities. Online followers delighted in his waggish posts (including a mano-a-mano challenge to Vladimir Putin) even as Musk earnestly advanced his business agenda. Amid the torrent of Elon-tinged ink spilled since the Russian invasion—his $44 billion pending Twitter acquisition, his ongoing battle with the Security Exchange Commission, a new service order by NASA, and more successful satellite launches—the following merit a shout-out:

First, Russia suspended joint space missions with the United States—creating momentum for Musk’s own Lunar and Mars initiatives. Second, the Russian Space Corporation (a Musk competitor for satellite launches) was sidelined by sanctions, allowing him to pick up new customers. Third, Musk’s space-based broadband operation was lauded for gallantly donating satellite receivers to Ukraine. Fourth, unmentioned was the vexing fact that U.S. taxpayers subsidized the “gift” to the tune of $3 million dollars, shipping included.

I like Musk but he has his challenges.
