The husband of the late cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has said it is “absurd” that producer Alec Baldwin is not taking responsibility for her death.
Matt Hutchins told NBC’s Today he felt “angry” seeing the actor talk publicly about his wife’s death.
Ms Hutchins was killed on the set of his movie Rust in October, after a prop gun Mr Baldwin was holding discharged.
Article 4 of the NATO treaty covers the case when a member state feels threatened by another country or a terrorist organization. The 30 member states would then start formal consultations at the request of the threatened member. The talks, would look at whether a threat exists and how to counter it, with decisions arrived at unanimously. Article 4 does not, however, mean there would be direct pressure to act.
This consultation mechanism has been triggered several times in NATO’s history. For instance, by Turkey one year ago, when Turkish soldiers were killed in an attack from Syria. At that time, NATO decided to consult, but did not take any action.

Ontario reports 41 more COVID-19 deaths; under 1,100 hospitalizations
Provincial health officials reported 41 more virus-related deaths on Thursday and under 1,100 patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health says the deaths reported today occurred over the past 30 days, including three deaths on Feb. 22 and six on Feb. 21.
302 people are in ICU with #COVID19. 74% of patients admitted to the ICU were admitted for COVID-19 and 26% were admitted for other reasons but have tested positive for COVID-19.
There are 2,404 new cases of COVID-19.

Reinfections from Omicron subvariant BA.2 seem rare, study finds, making ‘new wave’ unlikely
Getting infected more than once by subvariants in the Omicron family does seem possible, but appears rare, scientists in Denmark found in a recent real-world study — offering reassurance that countries won’t experience another sudden surge of infections.
The early research, which was published online as a preprint on Tuesday and has not yet been peer-reviewed, involved an analysis of recent SARS-CoV-2 infections by a team from the Statens Serum Institut (SSI), a top Danish public health institute.
Oil prices have surged past $100 (£74) a barrel to hit their highest level for more than seven years after Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is condemning Russia’s attack on Ukraine and calling on Russian President Vladimir Putin to withdraw all military forces from the country.
“Canada condemns in the strongest possible terms Russia’s egregious attack on Ukraine,” Trudeau said in a statement late Wednesday.
In a pre-dawn TV statement Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia did not plan to occupy Ukraine and demanded that its military lay down their arms.
Moments later, attacks were reported on Ukrainian military targets.
Ukraine said that “Putin has launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine”.
Russia’s military breached the border in a number of places, in the north, south and east, including from Belarus, a long-time Russian ally. There are reports of fighting in some parts of eastern Ukraine.

In much of the West, there is a tendency to lump together culturally and economically different groups on the grounds of race. This is particularly pronounced in the case of ‘Black America’.
This category, to which many progressives still cleave, hides significant differences among the US’s black population – such as those between US-born black Americans and recently arrived black immigrants and refugees. In a February 13, 2022, essay that was published in the Wall Street Journal entitled “Ukraine Is a Distraction From Taiwan,” Elbridge Colby and Oriana Skylar Mastro argue that the United States will increase the danger of prompting an opportunistic Chinese attack on Taiwan if it deploys military forces to deal with Russia’s threat to Ukraine.
To support this argument, the authors assert that “…China poses an increasingly imminent [emphasis added] threat to Taiwan,” and, given its huge military power, “…reasonably doubt[s] that the U.S or anyone else would mount a meaningful response to an invasion of Taiwan.” In addition, the authors assert that any additional U.S. ground troop deployments to Europe will weaken the U.S. capacity to defend Taiwan, and hence will indeed tempt China to attack.
