Treasure hunters who believe they led FBI to huge cache of fabled Civil War-era gold in Pennsylvania sue the agency for failing to reveal what they found in secret excavation four years ago

A father-son duo of Pennsylvania treasure hunters have sued the FBI for failing to produce records chronicling a top-secret excavation the agency administered in the state nearly four years ago that may have yielded a $400million cache of Civil War-era gold.

Court documents unsealed earlier this year revealed that the bureau had in fact engaged in the previously undisclosed dig in Elk County in search of the fabled treasure, lost by the US government in 1863.

The filing attested that agents engaged in the dig came up empty-handed.

WARMINGTON: Opposition shockingly silent on PM’s hatred of unvaccinated Canadians

It’s not just that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau talked about a group of fellow Canadians with such gross malevolence that was shocking.

He’s done this before and makes no secret of his disdain for the unvaccinated.

What was equally as shocking is opposition leaders didn’t call him out on it. This should scare those in this unfairly outcast group who feel they are being phased out as employees, citizens and people free to go into public places.

Russia’s Putin to NATO: Commit Suicide or Face All-Out War

Russia has threatened war if the United States and its NATO allies fail to comply — unconditionally — with sweeping demands for a new security arrangement in Europe.

The demands, issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, require the United States to remove its nuclear umbrella from Europe and allow Russia to reestablish its Soviet-era sphere of influence over Eastern Europe.

The Russian demands, which effectively require NATO to commit suicide, are so obviously outrageous and unmeetable that Western analysts are split over interpreting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s motives. Some say he is using the impossible list of demands as a pretext to invade Ukraine. Others think he is playing a weak hand to try to divide the West and reorder Europe’s security architecture in Russia’s favor.

Rights court throws out UK gay wedding cake case

The European Court of Human Rights on Thursday rejected a case brought over a UK bakery’s refusal to bake a gay wedding cake, saying British legal options had to be exhausted before it would get involved.

Plaintiff Gareth Lee, who lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 2014 ordered a cake for a gay activist event scheduled shortly after the province’s assembly rejected legalising same-sex marriage for the third time.

Kazakhstan unrest: Dozens killed in crackdown

Security forces in the Central Asian state of Kazakhstan say they have killed dozens of anti-government rioters in the main city, Almaty.

They moved in after protesters tried to take control of police stations in the city, a police spokeswoman said.

Twelve members of the security forces have been killed and 353 injured in the unrest, sparked by a doubling in the cost of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Russia is sending in troops at the request of the Kazakh president.

Seattle police exchanged detailed fake radio transmissions about a nonexistent group of menacing right-wing extremists at a crucial moment during the 2020 racial justice protests, an investigation by the city’s police watchdog group shows.

The radio chatter about members of the Proud Boys marching around downtown Seattle, some possibly carrying guns and then heading to confront protesters on Capitol Hill was an improper “ruse”, or dishonest ploy, that exacerbated a volatile situation, the Seattle Times reported. That’s according to findings released Wednesday by the city’s Office of Police Accountability (OPA).

Prosecutors want to seize Boston marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s $1,400 COVID relief check to use as restitution for victims

The surviving Boston marathon bomber has been ordered by a judge to hand over a $1,400 COVID relief stimulus check he received in prison and give the cash to his victims.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, now 28, was sentenced to death in 2015 for the April 2013 bombings, which killed three and injured more than 260.

He remains at the Colorado ‘supermax’ prison, but in June 2021 received a $1,400 payment from the federal government as part of coronavirus relief available to all Americans.

MI6 chief thanks China for ‘free publicity’ after James Bond spoof

Britain’s spy chief has thanked China’s state news agency for “free publicity” after it posted a James Bond spoof that mocked the western intelligence community’s growing focus on threats posed by Beijing.

The rare response by the head of MI6, Richard Moore, on Thursday comes as China and Britain clash over Beijing’s treatment of its Uyghur minority and creeping authoritarianism in the former British colony of Hong Kong.

Moore – codenamed C within the agency – previously said adapting to China’s rise was the spy service’s “single greatest priority” and warned of Chinese “debt traps, data exposure and vulnerability to political coercion”.
