Man whose call made Biden agree with ‘Let’s go Brandon’ gets threats

While noting that he “stood 100% behind what I did and what I said,” Jared Schmeck, a 35-year-old former police officer, said he has been receiving “vague but threatening” phone calls after video clips of the conversation were widely reported and shared.

“At the end of the day, I have nothing against Mr. Biden,” Schmeck told The Oregonian newspaper on Saturday. The father of four said he was just voicing his “frustrations” and meant “no disrespect” toward Biden, who he termed a “cordial guy” that “can be doing a better job.”

Ontario topped 10K New Covid cases Christmas day and 9,826 on Boxing Day

Ontario is reporting nearly 10,000 new COVID-19 cases Sunday.

Health Minister Christine Elliott said there were 9,826 new infections, which is the second-highest single-day increase in Ontario since the pandemic began.

On Saturday, a record 10,412 cases were reported.

And the descent into madness gains pace

In the strangest of times, the strangest of festivals. Dulled by familiarity, piled over with good food, buried in torn wrapping paper, drowned in good drink: can we see Christmas again for what it is?

In days that seem unprecedented, we cling to the familiar. I do, anyway, and Christmas has been familiar to me all my life. The excitement and the anticipation that I felt as a boy is felt now by my young son, and I can live vicariously through him: the lack of sleep, the mince pies for the reindeer, the presents waiting, if he’s lucky, under the tree. Christmas has its rituals, and we don’t have many shared rituals left in the modern West.

Using anecdotes from people who “diligently” and “desperately” went the extra mile to keep away from the virus, the article laments how individuals who got the jab numerous times, masked up, and even stayed home feel like a failure because they fell ill.

On Christmas eve, as has happened for the past sixty years, NORAD tracked Santa Claus and his sleigh as he made his way around the world. Of all of the modern traditions of Christmas, you might think that this is one of the more harmless and fun ones for children to follow and, in some cases, participate in by calling the hotline. But it would appear that there is a grinch for every season these days, since someone found a reason to object to the tradition and call for it to end.
