Amid all the rancour generated by today’s culture wars, there is an emerging consensus that the advocates of woke and its detractors are as bad as each other. As Vicky Bingham, the headteacher of South Hampstead High School in London, told The Times last week: ‘The woke-finder generals are as guilty of “cancel culture” as those they accuse of promoting it.’ While challenging the myth that all young people are ‘woke’, she also criticised the ‘free-speech brigade’ for persecuting those with woke views.

We’ve heard of cars being left unlocked, windows rolled down, but now some people are leaving their trunks open too. It’s raising eyebrows as reports of car break-ins are on the rise in San Francisco and Oakland.

The Omicron Variant Is Resistant to All Available Vaccines

Since the Omicron variant arrived in late November, the biggest questions have been how fast it spreads, how severe the illness is that it causes, and how much resistance the existing vaccines provide.

Indications so far are that the virus spreads very quickly, but that it isn’t as deadly as prior variants. Now, a new study says the new variant may resist vaccines- to a “striking” degree.

A survey conducted by Columbia University and the University of Hong Kong found that the number of spike mutations “pose a threat to the efficacy of current COVID-19 vaccines and antibody therapies,” with the Omicron variant resistant to all available vaccines, as well as past infection.

The Holmes trial is about money

Prosecutor Jeffrey Schenk opened his closing arguments in the case against Elizabeth Holmes by talking about a banker. Holmes knew Theranos, the company she founded, was running out of money, and she was on the phone asking her banker to clear a check early.

“Holmes had a choice to make,” Schenk said. She could figure out a way to raise funds to keep the company moving, or risk seeing it wither away. And her choice, he said, was to raise the funds through fraud.

The prosecution’s closing statement on Thursday was a reminder of what this trial is really about: money, and mostly rich people’s money. Those rich people, who gave their money to Theranos after Holmes pitched them on the promise of the company, are who the prosecutor referred to as ‘victims.’ Their money is what, according to the legal system, was manipulated during the years Theranos was the hottest startup in Silicon Valley.

In 2000 the U.S. Congress passed legislation establishing Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) with China. The foundation for this successful China vote was established in 1998 when Congress adjusted terminology to rebrand “most favored nation” as “normal trade relations.” These and other shenanigans by Congress enabled China ultimately to enter the World Trade Organization (WTO) in December 2001. This fundamentally changed the economic role that China plays globally, propelling it to the second-largest economy in the world today.

France moves to shut mosque with preacher ‘targeting Christians, homosexuals, Jews’

PARIS — France’s interior minister said on Tuesday he had launched a procedure to close a mosque for up to six months because of the radical nature of its imam’s preaching.

Gerald Darmanin told the Cnews TV channel he had “triggered” the process of shutting the mosque in Beauvais, a town of 50,000 some 100 kilometers (62 miles) north of Paris, because of “unacceptable” preaching.

This could never happen in Canada where Islam is miraculously pacified by our magic tree sap or it may have something to do with the fact authorities do not monitor mosques here. Hard to say.

Germany: Omicron is unstoppable now

So, that’s that: It won’t be a Merry Christmas after all.

It’s only a matter of time before we’re hit by the full force of omicron infections — a case of, “not if, but when.” And that when won’t take long. That’s what three of Germany’s top researchers said during a virtual nationwide press briefing Wednesday (15.12.2021).

Christoph Neumann-Haefelin, an immunologist at the University Medical Center Freiburg, said omicron will likely become the dominant variant of the coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, by mid-January — superseding the delta variant, which until now has been one of the most infectious strains since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

‘Anti-5G’ necklaces are radioactive and dangerous, Dutch nuclear experts say

People who wear “anti-5G” pendants to “protect” themselves from radio frequencies emitted by phone masts have been told by the Dutch nuclear authority that their necklaces are dangerously radioactive.

Owners of “quantum pendants” and other “negative ion” jewellery have been advised to store them away, as they have been found to continuously emit ionising radiation.
