‘It’s our lifeline’: the Taliban are back but Afghans say opium is here to stay

Despite talk of a Taliban ban, in Helmand’s poppy fields farmers and traders say they are not the only ones who depend on the drug to survive

The Taliban’s announcement that it plans to ban the production of opium in Afghanistan does not faze seasoned dealer Ahmed Khan*.

“They could not fund their war if there were no opium,” says Khan, who operates out of Baramcha, close to the border with Pakistan.

He has traded in the drug for a quarter of a century and is confident that the group cannot really afford for trade to stop.

“There would be a backlash from the poppy farmers, drug lords and the public if the Taliban bans the opium production. The Taliban has benefited the most from opium production over 20 years.”

The Black Lives Matter leader who threatened “bloodshed” if there wasn’t police reform in New York City stormed out of an interview with Fox News’ Dan Bongino Saturday night after being called a “coward” for refusing to condemn riots.

New York BLM co-founder Hawk Newsome clashed with the conservative commentator during a heated exchange about rioting and vandalism in the Big Apple linked to his group in the wake of police use-of-force incidents.

Poland is braced for major attack by ‘weaponised’ migrants from Belarus

Poland is braced for a major assault by migrants on its frontier with Belarus tonight after receiving intelligence of a huge build up of enemy troops.

Polish Border Force guards claim their Belarusian counterparts are issuing the thousands of stranded migrants with instructions, equipment and weapons to force their way into the EU.

The attack is believed to be planned for frontier at Kuznica, one of two main crossing points from Poland to Belarus.

The 22-year-old jihadi bride was targeted by ISIS fanatics who firebombed her tent in the Kurdish-run refugee camp al-Roj in northern Syria.

Begum is allegedly the main target after denouncing the terror group as she pleads with lawyers to help her leave the camp.

FBI probes cyber-attack emails sent from internal server

The FBI has launched an investigation after thousands of fake email messages were sent from one of its servers warning of a possible cyber-attack.

The government agency said the incident on Saturday morning was part of an “ongoing situation”, but provided no further details.

The messages purported to be from the US Department of Homeland Security.

They claimed to be a warning about a supposed threat and were titled: “Urgent: Threat actor in systems.”

EV tax credit ‘not good news’ for Canada, ambassador to U.S. says

Canada’s ambassador to the U.S. stressed further that a proposed tax credit that encourages electric vehicle production in the U.S. would cause harm to Canada’s economy.

“It’s not good news for Canada. It’s also really not good news for the U.S.,” Ambassador Kirsten Hillman said during an interview with Global News’ Mercedes Stephenson on The West Block.

Biden loves kicking Trudeau in the nuts, and who can blame him, so this proposed credit may come to pass. The Liberal – left don’t want you allowed to drive anything anyway, not even a horse and buggy. Frankly Justin and his fellow Eco-Cultists are likely very happy at the prospect that vehicles of any type will not be manufactured or assembled in Canada.

The opposition Conservatives have long pressed the Liberals to deny Huawei a role in building the country’s 5G infrastructure, saying it would allow Beijing to spy on Canadians more easily.

The US army could not withstand an insurgency

Historically speaking, empires on average last for around 250 years, after which they tend to either slowly — or very, very quickly — fall apart due to overreach and internal conflict. Somewhat ominously, the 250th birthday of America is coming up in 2026.

Yet when, towards the end of Trump’s presidency, a radical friend of mine told me that he thought America was headed for civil war, I dismissed the argument out of hand. Why? How? It takes a unique confluence of mistakes and crises for civil war to appear possible, and an even longer list of mistakes, crises and elite screw-ups for them to happen.

Google these two F-words and you’ll be treated to photo after photo of black, choking factories. ‘Keep it in the ground!’, environmentalists cry, convinced that humanity’s digging for coal, oil and gas, and our burning of these long dormant fuels to create energy, has propelled our planet into a hellscape of pollution. The Extinction Rebellion death cult marches behind banners declaring ‘Fossil fuels = death’. These dug-up fossils are ‘fuelling the apocalypse’, academics claim.
