The indictment spelled out Sussmann’s involvement in a thus-far uncharged conspiracy to create a false narrative that was calculated to demonstrate a secret channel of internet communications between the Trump Organization and the Russian Alfa-Bank.

Recently Sussmann’s lawyers moved for a bill of particulars alleging that the indictment lacks sufficient detail and clarity for their client to prepare his defense.

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA — U.S. prosecutors are making their case for why a former Canadian Armed Forces reservist with ties to a white supremacist group should be sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Patrik Mathews, 28, pleaded guilty earlier this year to four charges, including illegally transporting a firearm and obstruction of justice.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Windom wants U.S. District Court Justice Theodore Chuang to apply a “terrorism enhancement” to the sentence because his motives included attacking federal officials and facilities.

Former Liberal prime minister Jean Chrétien says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau would have been “better served” if he sought guidance from his party’s elder statesmen, but that the current government has failed to reach out to him for advice.

Trouble Won’t Be “Transitory”

Mounting problems with inflation, the supply chain, and energy shortages are not likely to resolve themselves quickly.

Authorities in Washington—President Joe Biden, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen—have told the public not to worry over the recent inflation, which they insist is “transitory.” They link the problem to supply-chain constraints that they suggest will soon lift. Supply problems have certainly contributed to inflation, but early relief seems unlikely. Even Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg expects problems until mid-2022 at the earliest. That will put a damper on holiday gift-giving and makes the word “transitory” sound misleading.

Facebook misled investors as it lost young users, whistleblower alleges

Facebook allegedly misled investors and masked slowing growth among critical demographics like young users in the US, according to internal documents leaked by whistleblower Frances Haugen.

The documents show that young people are generally spending less time on Facebook, fewer teens are signing up and many new teen accounts are duplicates as opposed to unique new users, Bloomberg reported Monday.

People across age groups are also creating fewer posts, and it’s unclear to Facebook employees why all this is happening, Bloomberg said, citing Facebook’s internal research.

Palestinian Prisoners No One Talks About

A recent hunger strike by Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) prisoners held by Israel caught the attention of many journalists and media outlets. Reports about the hunger strike appeared in newspapers around the world and were included in dispatches by major news agencies.

The PIJ prisoners, who have been convicted of terrorism against Israel, received wide coverage because they are being held in Israeli prisons. They are being held in prison because many of them were involved in major terror attacks against Israel, including murder. The international media and the Palestinian Authority (PA), however, refuse to call these prisoners terrorists. Instead, they call them “militants” or “political detainees.”

While the world’s attention remains focused on the Palestinians held in Israeli prisons, there is hardly any mention of prisoners and detainees held by the PA security forces in the West Bank.
