Ontario reports 554 new COVID-19 cases, 16 more deaths

For the second time in the last three days, Ontario is reporting a week-over-week decline in the number of new COVID-19 cases.

Provincial health officials logged 554 new COVID-19 cases today, a notable drop from the 656 infections reported last Wednesday and the 660 cases confirmed two weeks ago.

Legal questions around rights linger as some provinces bring in COVID-19 vaccine passports

Several provinces are entering uncharted waters around the legality of vaccine passports that require patrons of a wide variety of establishments to be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 shot.

Manitoba and Quebec have brought in vaccine passports in recent weeks, while British Columbia and Ontario announced they would implement such policies beginning later this month. On Tuesday, Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey announced the province would follow Quebec’s lead and introduce a vaccination passport that uses a QR code, while Yukon Premier Sandy Silver said the territory was launching an online vaccine credential system. Officials in New Brunswick and P.E.I. have said those provinces will likely also institute their own vaccine passport systems soon.

Governments are permitted under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to limit basic freedoms if they can show why such a limit is reasonable. But there is scant Canadian case law on what is reasonable in a health emergency.

Conservative lead growing slightly as Liberal, NDP election campaigns hit wall: poll

The federal election race remains tight, a new poll suggests, but the Conservatives’ momentum appears to be building as the Liberals and NDP campaigns are stalling.

The Ipsos poll conducted exclusively for Global News found that 35 per cent of decided voters would vote for the Tories, up three points from last week. The Liberals would earn 32 per cent of the vote, up one point, while the NDP went down two points to receive 21 per cent.

Doesn’t appear that Justin has garnered much sympathy support despite being attacked with a couple of pebbles. Try as the media might it was hardly an assassination attempt.

Guns didn’t work, abortion failed, hidden agenda bit the dust, Justin’s laughable call to elect a real “leader” boomeranged.  I expect Justin’s media will label everyone not voting for Trudeau to be the Taliban next. But not the “Changed” Taliban the old “right wing extremist” Taliban.

Even CTV’s Nanos tracker has swung back to a Conservative lead after it showed Justin slightly ahead yesterday.

Will it translate to enough seats for a win? A close call but at this point it’s still likely to end in a diminished LPC minority.

Late on Tuesday, a US State Department spokesman said: “We note the announced list of names consists exclusively of individuals who are members of the Taliban or their close associates and no women.”

Update – Of course Canada’s Sharia Council of the Woke – CBC News is running with the same idiocy. Funny how they made the Ceeb’s “news” service free for streaming this month. Justin’s propagandists never miss a trick.

Is COVID a Pandemic of the Unvaccinated? Not Quite.

Physicians spreading medical misinformation, particularly about COVID, “are risking disciplinary action by state medical boards” due to their “high degree of public trust” and their “powerful platform in society.” One could say this applies more so to the president of the United States, the CDC director, and to major newspapers and media organizations, all of whom have a far larger platform than any single doctor.

For example, will Rolling Stone face disciplinary action over their recent false story about Oklahoma hospitals and ivermectin?

Corruption In Elite Places

The fall of Arif Naqvi, accused of stealing Bill Gates’s money and yours, exposed more corruption than just his own.

… The book implies that Trump doomed Abraaj by making anti-globalization fashionable. “Trying to raise money from the pension funds and money pots of the Western world, Trump’s isolationism was becoming a real threat to [Naqvi’s] vision and his marketing pitch,” Clark and Louch write. “As Trump established himself in power, opportunities diminished for globalists who believed in win-win outcomes,” even though “Arif took every opportunity to preach globalization to America in a bid to drown out the president’s words in the ears of the people he needed most.”

That’s nonsense. Trump’s words never counted for much with the people Naqvi was courting. They believed in globalization before 2016 and still believe in it today. Their minds didn’t change, only their access to power. If The Key Man is right and Abraaj came crashing down not because the music stopped the way it does in any Ponzi scheme but because the firm’s political allies lost the 2016 presidential election, then the corruption it exposed was something much bigger than Naqvi’s peculations—and Trump’s victory was a bigger blow against our crooked global elite than we realized.

It was laid in the days, weeks and months that followed 9/11.

Even before the suicide bombings outside the Kabul airport on Thursday evening, the US media was acting with rare unanimity. For the first time in memory, US media organs across the ideological and political spectrum have been united in the view that US President Joe Biden fomented a strategic disaster for the US and its allies with his incompetent leadership of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. Some compare it to the 1961 Bay of Pigs; others to Saigon in 1975; others to the US embassy in Tehran in 1979. Whatever the analogy, the bottom line is the same: Biden’s surrender to the Taliban has already entered the pantheon of American post-war defeats.

US-built databases a potential tool of Taliban repression

BOSTON (AP) — Over two decades, the United States and its allies spent hundreds of millions of dollars building databases for the Afghan people. The nobly stated goal: Promote law and order and government accountability and modernize a war-ravaged land.

But in the Taliban’s lightning seizure of power, most of that digital apparatus — including biometrics for verifying identities — apparently fell into Taliban hands. Built with few data-protection safeguards, it risks becoming the high-tech jackboots of a surveillance state. As the Taliban get their governing feet, there are worries it will be used for social control and to punish perceived foes.

Putting such data to work constructively — boosting education, empowering women, battling corruption — requires democratic stability, and these systems were not architected for the prospect of defeat.

The Liberal party has so embraced increasing the size of government that even the appearance of principles to justify profligacy has been abandoned. After nearly doubling the size of public debt while in power, the party’s platform promises to grow the budget by another $78 billion, with new revenue to cover hardly a third. Barely any of this new spending would be in service of a coherent set of beliefs honestly held about the role of government. When faced with two competing, or even contradictory, policy options aimed at achieving the same goal, the Liberals will inevitably refuse to decide and instead choose both.

Seattle could lose 200 cops over city’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate: report

Some 200 Seattle police officers may lose their jobs due to their resistance to getting vaccinated against COVID-19 or handing over personal medical data, according to a report.

That represents about 20 percent of the department’s deployable staff and the ailing agency has already lost 300 cops following last year’s push to defund law enforcement organizations, KTTH conservative talk radio host Jason Rantz reported Monday.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee announced a sweeping order in August requiring most state employees to get vaccinated by Oct. 18 or face termination.

There were some curious juxtapositions in Afghanistan last week. On the one hand, the under-19 Afghan cricket team was allowed to leave for a planned tournament in Bangladesh, as if things were normal, while on the other there was a sinister military parade taking place in Kandahar this week. After the lines of horsemen in flowing white robes, a deliberate image of Islamic warrior superiority, came the fleets of captured Humvees. And at the side of the procession lay a car packed with a bomb, suicide vest, and large plastic bottles of explosives from a roadside bomb.

The same grifters who lied for 20 years have found a new lie.
