Politically Punking Hollywood

Politically Punking Hollywood

Too few artists—indeed, too few people—have the moral courage to live without the need for external validation, especially in our social media-riven age.

Iwas honored recently to be invited on the “Political Punks” podcast, joining Bret R. Smith, Lisa DePasquale, Chris Baron, and Matt Palumbo. I highly recommend the show, especially the episodes in which I do not appear.

During our discussion of the current cancel culture climate, we touched upon the rank hypocrisy of the entertainment industry. Specifically, we discussed how the Hollywood celebrities and power brokers rushing to harangue Georgia for both promoting and protecting the voting process, are the same wealthy elitists filming in genocidal communist China and kowtowing to the Beijing regime’s racist dictates erasing persons of color and pro-American messaging from films.

Taking Off the Mask: The Department of Education just made it clear that it will promote critical race theory.

Taking Off the Mask: The Department of Education just made it clear that it will promote critical race theory.

Last month, Stanley Kurtz accused two Republicans, Senator John Cornyn and Representative Tom Cole, of being “hornswoggled” into backing the Civics Secures Democracy Act, which would appropriate $1 billion for federal grants to support curriculum development and teacher training in K-12 civics education. Kurtz and others argued that the key words in the bill all but assured the Department of Education would use the money to promote critical race theory (CRT).

We no longer need to take Kurtz’s word for it.

Supreme Court Might Reverse Chauvin Convictions because of Maxine Waters

The convictions of Derek Chauvin might not mark the end of this racially divisive case. The US Supreme Court might ultimately decide whether to uphold the convictions.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) made a statement — while jurors in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin were not yet sequestered — which demanded street confrontations unless Chauvin were found guilty of murder. The trial judge correctly suggested that any conviction in the case might ultimately be thrown out on appeal, based on what Waters said. He condemned Waters’ remarks in the strongest terms, but he did not have the courage to grant a defense motion for a mistrial. Had he done so, that almost certainly would have led to riots — which would have been blamed on the judge, not on Rep. Waters. So he left it to the court of appeals, months in the future, to grant a new trial — which he should have granted.

Tommy Robinson Libel Trial: left Syrian schoolboy ‘facing death threats’

A Syrian schoolboy had to flee his home and faced death threats after Tommy Robinson used social media to spread extremist views about him, a court heard.

The English Defence League founder – whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon – is being sued by Jamal Hijazi, 17.

The teenager was filmed being attacked in the playground at Almondbury School in Huddersfield in November 2018.

Shortly after the footage went viral, Robinson claimed in two Facebook videos that Jamal was ‘not innocent and he violently attacks young English girls in his school’.

Communist China clamps down on feminists closing online accounts

China’s feminist movement has been facing another wave of crackdowns, with dozens of social media accounts run by feminist activists abruptly shut down in recent weeks.

The accounts have been removed from the popular micro-blogging site Weibo, as well as the online platform Douban, which claim the suspended accounts contain “extreme and ideological content.”

It all began with a post shared by prominent Chinese feminist activist Xiao Meili on Weibo in March. In the post, Xiao recounted how she tried to stop a customer from smoking inside a hotpot shop, but the man became agitated and threw a cup of hot liquid at her and her friends.

Police minister calls for teacher to be sacked from primary school where students were ‘brainwashed’ into making Black Lives Matter posters saying ‘stop killer cops’ and ‘pigs out of the country’

A primary school teacher who instructed students to make anti-police posters in which officers were called ‘pigs’ should be sacked, NSW Police Minister David Elliott said.

Students in Years 5 and 6 at Lindfield Learning Village on Sydney’s north shore made placards with the words ‘stop killer cops’ and ‘pigs out of the country’, slogans which have featured in the Black Lives Matter movement in the US.

Others read: ‘white lives matter too much’ and ‘you can’t silence the speechLess’.

The Columbus Police Shooting Shows Why Family Assertions About ‘What Happened’ Are Completely Useless

Yesterday, a police officer in Columbus, OH shot and killed a teenage girl who was in the process of trying to stab (and possibly kill) another girl she was in a physical altercation with. Body-cam footage confirmed that account. Despite the reality shown on the video, there are still protests going on in the area for some reason.

Black Lives Matter Activists Following Conviction: ‘We’re Never Gonna Be Satisfied,’ ‘Burn It Down!’

Black Lives Matter activists fumed on Tuesday afternoon after a Minneapolis jury returned a verdict convicting former Minneapolis police Derek Chauvin on all counts, manslaughter and murder, in the death of George Floyd last May.

The jury took less than a day to deliver the verdict, a move that surprised many who were expecting deliberations to take at least a few days. Chauvin now faces up to 75 years in prison when he is sentenced in several weeks.

Just how scary is the COVID outbreak in India right now?

I have no deep thoughts about this subject but I want to put it on your radar because there’s every indication that it’ll end up as the worst COVID outbreak on Earth since the pandemic began. That distinction currently belongs to Brazil, I think, but India’s population dwarfs that country’s. And India is poorer per capita, which means more people in dire need of hospital care may not be able to get it.

They aren’t yet sure that the “Double Mutant” strain is responsible but it’s certainly playing a part.

As always too little too late from Trudeau and his cronies – Canada eyes policy on travel from India due to massive COVID-19 outbreak

Medievalism in Middle America: Celebrating the Verdict in the George Floyd Trial

… Derek Chauvin was guilty before he entered the courtroom when the trial began. He received a “fair trial” — at least, as fair as possible given the protesters waiting outside. “Nice courthouse ya have there, white folk. Be a shame if it were to suddenly catch fire and burn to the ground.”

Anyone who thinks that didn’t play on the minds of the jurors needs to get their reality checked.

Vaccinating ‘hot spots’ good, closing golf courses dumb: Reviewing the Ontario lockdown

Vaccinating ‘hot spots’ good, closing golf courses dumb: Reviewing the Ontario lockdown

Ontario, the epicentre of Canada’s third wave of COVID-19, is currently subject to what Premier Doug Ford has called the “strictest measures in all of North America.”

On Tuesday, Ontario’s official COVID-19 Science Advisory Table issued an oblique criticism of the current lockdowns. In a statement, the team of more than three dozen public health researchers branded some of Ontario’s current restrictions as belonging to policies that “won’t work.” They are far from the first in Ontario to question the efficacy of measures that are unprecedented in Canada, including empowering police to ticket anyone outside their home without valid reason.
