Poll: Over One-Third Believe Media Exaggerated Threat of the Coronavirus

Over one-third of Americans believe the media exaggerated the threat of the Chinese coronavirus, although 50 percent approve of the media’s overall coverage, a Rasmussen Reports survey released Thursday found.

Rasmussen Reports conducted the survey December 28-29, among 1,000 American adults, asking them to rate the media’s overall coverage of the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.

The usual in Portland: Police declare a riot as protest gets out of control New Year’s Eve

Portland police declared a riot just before 11 p.m. local time on New Year’s Eve after protesters broke windows, shot off fireworks and set fires near the federal courthouse, CBS News affiliate KOIN reported. Less than half an hour later Portland police advanced on the protesters, who responded by shooting fireworks at them, KOIN said. Department of Homeland Security officers, who’ve been in the city for months to help police deal with regular protests that have often turned violent, faced off against another group in the city.

Brexit: New era for UK as it completes separation from European Union

A new era has begun for the United Kingdom after it completed its formal separation from the European Union.

The UK stopped following EU rules at 23:00 GMT, as replacement arrangements for travel, trade, immigration and security co-operation came into force.

Boris Johnson said the UK had “freedom in our hands” and the ability to do things “differently and better” now the long Brexit process was over.

But opponents of leaving the EU maintain the country will be worse off.

Small crowd in Times Square rings in New Year with low-key celebration

Just a few hundred people — mainly first responders spaced apart by barricades — were given access to Times Square on New Year’s Eve to bid farewell to 2020.

Mayor de Blasio and First lady Chirlane McCray were on hand at the low-key celebration to initiate the traditional ball drop at midnight.

Leading up to the new year, a star-studded performance featuring Jennifer Lopez, Cyndi Lauper and others was televised for viewers at home.

Coronavirus restrictions left 54% of Canadians feeling isolated, poll says

Coronavirus restrictions left 54% of Canadians feeling isolated, poll says

COVID-19 lockdowns, restrictions and physical distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic have left more than half of Canadians feeling lonely or isolated, according to a new Ipsos poll conducted exclusively for Global News.

“I think Blursday has set in,” Darrell Bricker, CEO of Ipsos, said, referring to the term coined in 2020 as people struggled to keep track of what day of the week it was during lockdown periods.

Our self-appointed media overlords aren’t very bright

Our self-appointed media overlords aren’t very bright

In February 2017, Mika Brzezinski gave the media’s game away.  She explained that Donald Trump, by trying to bypass media bias, “could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think.”  Mika wasn’t upset that Americans might be subject to thought control.  Instead, she was outraged because, when it comes to thought control, “that is our job.”  Jennifer Bendery, a HuffPost senior politics reporter, is Mika’s spiritual heir because she is stupid, hostile to the Trump administration, under the impression that she owns the facts, and intractable about her ignorance and bias.

The Year in which Comforting American Myths Were Ravaged

The Year in which Comforting American Myths Were Ravaged

Thanks in large part to Covid lockdowns, this year has left vast wreckage in its wake, with ten million jobs lost, more than 100,000 businesses and dozens of national chains bankrupted or closed. Up to 40 million people could face eviction in the coming months for failing to pay rent, and Americans report that their mental health is at record low levels. But the casualty list for 2020 must also include many of the political myths that shape Americans’ lives.

Perhaps the biggest myth to die this year was that Americans’ constitutional rights are safeguarded by the Bill of Rights.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year from all of us at BCF.

Thank you all for seeing us through these most trying of times.

2020 is not going to let us go so easily; its malevolence will be felt long into 2021 that much is certain.

We will carry on. It will get better. Thanks to you.

We are putting woke idiocy above saving lives

We are putting woke idiocy above saving lives

Retired doctors are apparently required to undergo diversity training before they can help administer vaccines.

After a year of the Covid pandemic, the rollout of the vaccine promises to be the light at the end of the tunnel. And while the work to develop and test the vaccines has been done successfully and at record speed, the rollout poses an enormous logistical challenge.

In the UK, retired doctors are volunteering to become Covid vaccinators to speed up the process. But the bureaucratic hurdles to volunteering are bordering on the absurd.

Hilaria Baldwin Shows That Racism Still Lives in America, But Not How You Might Think

Hilaria Baldwin has been claiming to be Spanish for a decade, as Megan Fox details here (and Stephen Kruiser hilariously skewers here), but now that she has been outed as being the daughter of two old Boston families, she made the obligatory Maoist self-incrimination that our moral superiors demand. “I am a white girl. Let’s be very clear that Europe has a lot of white people in there.” But for all the ridicule Hilaria Baldwin is receiving, there is much more to this story than the foolish audacity of one attention-seeking white girl. It reveals an ominous trend in American society today: our society is so post-racial that it’s racial again.

Lies, Damned Lies, And Insane Statistics

Lies, Damned Lies, And Insane Statistics

By the same standard of statistical analysis that the left applies to everything, it is easy to prove that the election was stolen from Donald Trump.

The presidential election is all but over now—“all but” because it was so obviously stolen that there is still a chance truth and justice will prevail, with Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) yesterday becoming the first senator to announce plans to object to congressional certification, which will force the House and Senate to vote on whether to uphold Biden’s contested victory in the Electoral College. The wokies are beyond ecstatic, humming “Hail to the Chief” whenever they think of Joe Biden—or even Hunter Biden, China Joe’s son, under investigation by the Justice Department since late 2018.

The woke media—a media too corrupt to print, during the presidential campaign, stories of the Biden family’s years of corruption—was oh, so uninterested in the statistical disparities in voting that clearly indicated election fraud. They were willing to bear any burden, pay any price, including the traducing of democracy, to get rid of Donald Trump.

Wish you were in Wuhan? Pandemic epicentre celebrates

Unmourned but never to be forgotten, 2020 started passing into history today with scaled-down festivities around the world as humanity bids good riddance to the year of the pandemic – although there were balloons and revelry in Wuhan where the virus began its trail of destruction 12 long months ago.

China, New Zealand, Australia, Japan and South Korea are among the countries who have already greeted the dawn of 2021, with the rest of the planet set to cross the invisible threshold in the coming hours.

With the China deal, the EU falls back to hard realpolitik

With the China deal, the EU falls back to hard realpolitik

“…Simply put, the EU-China agreement is a far more meaningful expression of European strategic autonomy than anything seen so far in the heated debate over the concept, outclassing even Macron’s most headline-grabbing interviews. The indignant cries of American commentators that Europe should have waited to consult with the Biden administration miss the point: the lack of consultation is the message.”

The US should quit NATO in response. But it won’t, not with President China Boy in charge.
