BEIJING/SINGAPORE — China on Tuesday announced preliminary anti-dumping duties on Canadian canola imports, a fresh escalation in the year-long trade dispute that began with Ottawa’s imposition of tariffs on Chinese electric vehicle imports last August.
The provisional rate will be set at 75.8 per cent, effective from Thursday, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.
ICE November canola futures RSX5 fell 6.5 per cent to a four-month low after the announcement.

The federal Conservative party has joined the chorus of voices calling for the India-based Lawrence Bishnoi gang to be added to Canada’s list of terrorist organizations.

Ethnic pandering.
Donald Trump has federalized the Washington, D.C. police and deployed National Guard troops to the city. Trump is arguing that the deployment is in response to a crisis in public safety.
Here’s the pattern: Trump says something true, the media calls him a fascist, and when it turns out the country agrees with Trump, they switch to calling it obvious. They did it on the border, they did it on NATO, now they’re doing it on crime, though this time, the elites are… pic.twitter.com/O0MmGNZE4J

Three Canadian provinces have outlawed woodland access due to concerns over wildfire risk and are now threatening massive fines or jail for Canadians who violate the lockdown and who go out into nature.
The restrictions in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland are prompting calls of warning as well as acts of civil disobedience from Canadians who view the bans as a tyrannical attempt to restrict the movements of the populace, using climate change as justification.
Arrivederci, America. Could ABC’s left-wing, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel be getting ready to utter that classic Italian farewell? Anything is possible after he revealed he now has citizenship for Italy as he mourned President Donald Trump’s triumphant return to the White House.
For the year 2024, Ms. Elghawaby claimed $54,459.77 to cover the costs of 31 trips, mainly to attend symposia and conferences on issues related to Islamophobia.
A sign that this amount is high, it exceeds the sums claimed during the same period by the CEO of the Alto high-speed train project, the spendthrift Martin Imbleau ($47,114).
In fact, even Canada’s ambassador to the United Nations, Bob Rae, has called for less travel spending in 2024 ($54,236).
“A nightmare of murder and crime,” Donald Trump called Washington DC during the 2024 election campaign, adding that the US national capital was “a dirty, crime-ridden death trap, that must be taken over and properly run”.
The president’s animus against Washington continued after he returned to office, when he charged that Washington’s elected local officials were “not doing the job – too much crime, too much graffiti”. On Feb 19, while returning to Washington from Mar-a-Lago, Trump suggested a federal takeover of the capital city’s municipal governance to address its many woes.

The Trump administration is evaluating plans that would establish a “Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force” composed of hundreds of National Guard troops tasked with rapidly deploying into American cities facing protests or other unrest, according to internal Pentagon documents reviewed by The Washington Post.
The plan calls for 600 troops to be on standby at all times so they can deploy in as little as one hour, the documents say. They would be split into two groups of 300 and stationed at military bases in Alabama and Arizona, with purview of regions east and west of the Mississippi River, respectively.
The Israel Defense Forces killed Anas al-Sharif, who Israel says posed as a journalist for the Qatari Al Jazeera network but was actively serving as the head of a Hamas terrorist cell.
Al-Sharif, who was slain in Gaza City on Saturday, was responsible for orchestrating and advancing rocket attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops, the Israeli military said.
Rachel and pals are incensed at the NATPO’s callous treatment of their Muslim terrorist hero.

European Union leaders made a rallying call to defend Ukraine’s freedom to decide its own future in advance of their virtual summit with Donald Trump – convened to discuss US strategy before the president’s talks with Vladimir Putin on Friday.
With the exception of Hungary, all EU leaders signed a joint statement, with Kaja Kallas, the EU foreign policy chief, also calling for the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to attend the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska on Friday.
Trump insists his meeting with Putin is a “feel-out” to gauge the Russian leader’s willingness to compromise, but European leaders fear Trump will be lured into a joint declaration with Moscow that involves irretrievable concessions before substantive talks between Ukraine and Russia.
The Carney Liberals have been hiding immigration data from Canadians for months. Now, after being called out on it, the government says it’s all in the name of openness and transparency.
Normally, government numbers on the number of new arrivals, the number of asylum seekers and more are released on the government’s open data portal. As of now, the government hasn’t released any data since May and that information only covers until the end of March.

The number of migrants to cross the English Channel in small boats since Labour came to power last summer is expected to have reached 50,000.
Home Office data shows 49,797 people had made the journey as of Sunday, with Monday’s total due to be released later.
Government minister Baroness Smith told the BBC this was an “unacceptable number of people” but pointed to the “one in, one out” returns deal with France as a deterrent.
But the Conservative Party said the migrant crossing totals showed Labour had “surrendered our borders”.
Labour like our Liberal party doesn’t want to stop the flow of 3rd world invaders.
