They Have No Plan For America

The following short clip of Nixon is fascinating. For one thing, he totally gets communism as a totally destructive effort. That is promotes nothing, and its entire reason de etre is the destruction of that which is good and that which works. But then his language after that is doubly interesting. He uses words from old-speak.

Readers of this site will experience a little cognitive dissonance as we understand these terms as they were meant before being coopted by the left, while also understanding them as their dialectical opposites as they do now. Newspeak in other words. I’ll link to the amazing essay by Orwell as read in the audiobook of 1984 on New speak. That alone is worth the effort.

Nixon uses progressive, freedom, justice, all as they have always meant in the west till recently. Its an interesting experience when you think of how the left negated these terms and redefined them to mean a rough opposite. Islam did the same. Freedom means freedom from man made laws, and justice means the sharia.

The world has been warming faster than expected. Scientists now think they know why

Last year was the hottest on record, oceans boiled, glaciers melted at alarming rates, and it left scientists scrambling to understand exactly why.

They know the extraordinary heat was fuelled by a number of factors, predominantly planet-heating pollution from burning fossil fuels and the natural climate pattern El Niño. But those alone did not explain the unusually rapid temperature rise.

Now a new study published Thursday in the journal Science says it has identified the missing part of the puzzle: clouds.

UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting: Five developments from NYPD’s investigation

Alargescale manhunt for the suspect in the unexpected death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is still underway as of Thursday night, one day after the mysterious shooting.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) has not named a suspect in the shooting, but images of a person of interest in the case were released by the department on Thursday afternoon. The department also said the case does not appear to be random, but a motive for the shooting is not clear.

Church of England spending ‘excessively’ on HR and diversity officers, report warns

The report, released on Wednesday, said the Church’s 42 dioceses had taken on “large numbers of staff” since the turn of the millennium while merging parishes and reducing clergy numbers to cut costs.
These administrative positions include human resources jobs and a series of “politicised roles” such as diversity, social justice, LGBT+ and net zero officers, the report found.
It means that “dioceses across the country now employ so many people that, on average, there is one administrator to every three-and-a-half priests”.

Only 6% of federal workers show up in person on a full-time basis, scathing Senate report reveals

A paltry 6% of the federal workforce “report in-person on a full-time basis” while almost one-third of federal workers are remote on a full-time basis, in a sharp turn-around from the pre-pandemic era in which only 3% teleworked daily, a report from Sen. Joni Ernst’s (R-Iowa) office found.

Ernst, who has long crusaded against the rise in remote federal work, is planning to reveal the fruits of her office’s year-and-a-half inquiry to Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) co-heads Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy during their visit to the Capitol Thursday.
