Trudeau says dealing with Trump will be ’a little more challenging’ than last time

Speaking at an event put on by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, Trudeau said that’s because Trump’s team is coming in with a much clearer set of ideas of what they want to do right away than after his first election win in 2016.

Even still, Trudeau said the answer is not to panic and said Canada can rally together to address the tough scenario the nation will face following Trump’s inauguration in January.

Trump’s new world order Global leaders are reassessing their position

When Donald Trump first visited Paris when President in 2017, he appeared as something of a passing curiosity; the apparent manifestation of America’s inexorable decline, captured in all its spray-tanned vulgarity. Seven years later he has returned to Paris as emperor, crowned by his client kings in none other than the spiritual home of modern Christendom: Notre-Dame. “It was a coronation,” as one European diplomat put it to me, laughing with incredulity at the spectacle.

Who’s driving the war wagon for U.S.?

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the West told Russia NATO would not expand eastward of Berlin. Since then, NATO added 14 countries east of Berlin. No legal agreements for NATO’s eastward expansions were made, but Russia’s concern is more than mere NATO membership. NATO countries are equipped with U.S. military bases pointing missiles at Russia. As of July of 2021, there are roughly 750 U.S. military bases in 80 countries, compared to Russia’s mere 21 overseas military facilities, leaving Russia paranoid about the West.

History shows us what would happen if Russia made an alliance with Canada or Mexico, putting military bases on our border with missiles aimed at the U.S. In January 1917, Germany sent the “Zimmermann Telegram” to Mexico revealing a plan for Germany to form an alliance with our southern neighbor, promising Mexico her lost territories of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. This threat at our doorstep was one of the factors leading the U.S. to declare war against Germany five weeks later.

Also, you have to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis where nuclear war almost occurred over Soviet missiles in Cuba.

NYT: Hamas Records Taken By Israel Show UNRWA Top School Administrators Also Were Hamas Terrorists

Documents shared with The New York Times impelled the media outlet to admit that senior staff at UNRWA schools doubled as members of Hamas’ military wing.

“The agency, which employs roughly 13,000 people, including thousands in the schools, has a duty to maintain the neutrality of its facilities in the conflict zones in which it operates, including by keeping militants off its premises and payrolls,” The Times noted.

But as shown by the detailed records kept by the Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, that were seized by Israel, at least 24 people employed by the anti-Israel UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in their schools were members of Hamas or Islamic Jihad.

“It’s not our fight”: Poilievre says Canada shouldn’t interfere in Syrian revolution

When asked what Canada should do to ensure stability in the region, Poilievre said Canada shouldn’t intervene, an illuminating comment about what the foreign policy of a potential Conservative government would look like.

“First of all, Assad was a puppet for the tyrants of Tehran (Iran). He has carried out genocides against the Sunni people in his own country, and now he appears to have been toppled,” Poilievre said. “We don’t know who will replace him, but I don’t think we should get involved in that mess. It’s not our fight.”

On the front lines of the EV revolution

Under the bright lights of a production line, a shiny black Dodge Charger Daytona sits plugged into a charger. Then one worker unplugs the car while another in a neon vest drives it away. The loudest noise it makes is the squeak of rubber tires on the factory floor.

Millions of vehicles have rolled out of the Stellantis assembly plant in Windsor, Ont., during its 96-year history, but this car is different. It’s electric, and it marks the beginning of a new era for these workers, the city, the province, the country, the Canadian auto industry and, if all goes according to plan, our climate goals.

“It feels historic. It really does. You can feel that energy with everybody on my team, and the people we’re working with,” said Audrey Moore, chief engineer responsible for the launch of the new Charger.

Getting to this moment – the first mass-produced electric passenger car made in Canada – is the culmination of years, arguably decades, of work by governments, unions, auto workers, suppliers and car company executives, not to mention tens of billions of dollars in government subsidies for companies all along the EV supply chain.

‘Ridiculous’: Cheney responds to Trump floating jail time for J6 committee members

Former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney said President-elect Trump floating jail time for her and other members of the Jan. 6 Committee “is a continuation of his assault on the rule of law.”

“Here is the truth: Donald Trump attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election and seize power,” Cheney said in a response statement to Trump, which was provided to Fox Digital. “He mobilized an angry mob and sent them to the United States Capitol, where they attacked police officers, invaded the building and halted the official counting of electoral votes. Trump watched on television as police officers were brutally beaten and the Capitol was assaulted, refusing for hours to tell the mob to leave.”

So she’ll refuse Biden’s pardon?

Syrian rebels install prime minister, new regime postures as centrist reformers

The Syrian rebel forces that successfully toppled the regime of former President Bashar Assad have installed a transitional prime minister.

Mohammed al Bashir, the leader of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al Sham’s political wing, will begin fielding a Cabinet to head the incoming government.

Bashir has served as the head of the oppositional Syrian Salvation Government in northern Syria since January, and his appointment indicates HTS is attempting to scale up its established, regional political bureau instead of building a new regime from scratch.

Google’s AI can accurately predict weather forecasts 15 days in advance

“Googling” today’s forecast could soon be even more reliable.

Just like your friendly TV meteorologist, current weather models could perhaps be a thing of the past. Google has unveiled an AI meteorology tech that is far faster and more accurate than traditional forecasts, per a study published in the journal “Nature.”

Devised by the search engine firm’s AI division, DeepMind, the “GenCast” model can tell if it’s going to rain 15 days ahead of time at a higher accuracy rate than the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts’ ENS (ECMWF) — the world’s top operational forecasting system, per the Google Deepmind blog.

This discrepancy has to do with a completely new monsoon-divining methodology. Whereas current iterations are “deterministic, and provided a single, best estimate of future weather,” GenCast “comprises an ensemble of 50 or more predictions, each representing a possible weather trajectory,” the blog’s authors write.

So how will this be weaponized against the public?

Is the Universe Designed for Us? Scientists Devise Way to Test the “Anthropic Principle”

The Anthropic Principle, a concept at the intersection of science and philosophy, has long served as a fallback explanation for perplexing questions about the universe. Why is the cosmological constant so small yet positive? Why does dark matter exist in the precise abundance needed for galaxies and life to form?

First articulated in its modern form by physicist Brandon Carter in 1974, the Anthropic Principle attempts to explain why the universe’s physical constants fall within the narrow range required for life. It comes in two flavors: the “Weak Anthropic Principle,” which observes that the universe must allow for observers, and the “Strong Anthropic Principle,” which suggests the universe is fine-tuned for life.
