Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” talks to New York Post writer and independent journalist Rav Arora. Rav discusses his op-ed criticizing the authoritarian policies of Justin Trudeau. The op-ed lambasted Trudeau for policies like the vaccine mandates that trapped unvaccinated Canadians in their country and the shutting down of bank accounts of protesters who participated in the Freedom Convoy under the Emergencies Act. Rav did not expect Justin Trudeau’s administration to respond in the way that it did. Rav explains why an independent free press is difficult to sustain in Canada and the threats of Western authoritarianism.
Authoritarianism
Canada’s eroding democracy under Trudeau’s watch

Canadian democracy is in decline.
To even suggest that a few short years ago would have been shocking, but the signs of weakening institutions and fraying checks and balances are now unmistakable.
Critics of the “democratic decline” thesis are quick to point out that Canada is not Russia, Yemen, or China. This is obviously true but these critics are also missing a key point – democracy is not an all-or-nothing proposition.
The state of democracy is measured by the relative performance of a political system on a range of variables over time. There is a lot of space between “perfect democracy” and “complete autocracy.”

You have to admire Canada’s basic dictatorship
We need those who were persecuted in communist countries, and fled to western "freedom" only to find them becoming increasingly authoritarian to start lobbying our governments because they know the territory like no one else.

Trudeau Bans Use Of “Father” And “Mother” For Government Employees

In his dystopian novel “1984,” social visionary George Orwell coined the term “Wordspeak.” Under the leadership of PM Justin Trudeau, its application is a reality in Canadian society. Indeed, the Liberals have become fixated on such terminology. Border-jumpers are not “illegal,” they are “irregular.” It is not a carbon tax, put rather a “price on pollution.”
Now, the Trudeau government establish punitive measures for those using common-place language that has been a part of western culture for a thousand years. Quite the move for a former snow-board instructor turned pseudo-dictator.
Trudeau’s Canada: Support Free North Declaration, Or Lose Our Country

Responding to Covid-related draconian directives, a group of Canadian lawyers have united to produce a petition called the Free North Declaration. With 90,000 signatures from citizens, as well as 640 signatures from lawyers, its tenets speak to a poorly understood transition in Canadian society.
Under its directive, citizens are urged to sign to support maintenance of Canada’s most cherished values– freedom of expression, freedom of association– rights that Canadians remained privy to for decades.
Then came Covid-19. Despite media presentation, ramifications of the pandemic extend far beyond virus vaccinations.
With Covid as justification, our Liberal government has instilled an erosion of individual rights in society. Neither media, nor academia, have reflected this reality. The common perception is one of maintenance of personal rights manifest in our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Trudeau government has been cagey enough to stop short of mandatory vaccines. It does not suggest that their game plan stops short of social coercion.
NYC parents protest vax mandates outside Health Department

Earlier this week, New Yorkers gathered in downtown Manhattan in front of the city’s Health Department to protest against the CDC’s recommendation of COVID-19 vaccines for toddlers and babies as well as the possible mandating of the jab for New York’s schoolchildren.
New Yorkers shared their concerns about the government chipping away at parental rights and described the need to protect children from the pharmaceutical industry’s capture of public health agencies.
Liberals waive cabinet confidence for Emergencies Act evidence

The Trudeau government has decided to release the documents it used to justify invoking the Emergencies Act to the Public Order Emergency Commission on Tuesday after claiming for weeks that they were protected under cabinet confidence.
‘Disgusting’: Maxime Bernier slams Trudeau for holding Tamara Lich ‘prisoner’

Maxime Bernier believes Tamara Lich is a “political prisoner,” and that the Liberal regime is treating her like a dissident in an authoritarian state. Bernier states that he will “continue to support this courageous woman.”
Trudeau: Unvaccinated Accepted ‘Consequences’ Like Losing Jobs and Access To Travel

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau defended his use of the Emergencies Act on Freedom Convoy protestors and restrictions on the unvaccinated, saying unvaccinated Canadians accepted the consequences of not taking the vaccine.
Will Trudeau Make “Anti-Authority” Behaviour A Crime in Canada?

Under our Liberal government, an erasure of personal freedoms in Canada are continuing to gain momentum. It appears Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may be of the opinion that existing punitive legal measures for citizens are wholly inadequate.
Justin Trudeau’s authoritarian rule of Canada

Over the past two years, Canadians have been stripped of their Charter rights. Unvaccinated Canadians have been locked away from leaving the country and from seeing family members, people were forced to stay home in order to “save lives”, businesses were forced to shut their doors, church gatherings were limited by order of the state and now the government is seeking power to control what you and can and cannot see and say on the internet.
Redder Pastures

Over the past two years, I have written several articles on issues that (I believe) take Canada in the direction of being a more authoritarian State. The sources for these issues are diverse, from government policy and announcements of policy intentions to public statements by members of the punditocracy / commentariat to widespread public support for certain ideas. In all frankness, I am not the only one who senses this direction of movement (or is it drift?). But I think that enough pieces are now in place for us to take a step back and take a holistic view of what this movement / drift portends for us as a society.
