OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — As the U.S. faces a reckoning over its history of racism, some Native American tribal nations that once owned slaves also are grappling with their own mistreatment of Black people.

When Native American tribes were forced from their ancestral homelands in the southeastern United States to what is now Oklahoma in the 1800s — known as the Trail of Tears — thousands of Black slaves owned by tribal members also were removed and forced to provide manual labor along the way. Once in Oklahoma, slaves often toiled on plantation-style farms or were servants in tribal members’ homes.

Black Lives Matter is now more powerful than it has ever been, and it’s just getting started. But will the rise of black nationalism conflict with the rise of other radical factions of the modern Left?

Tucker Carlson said back in 2020 that the Black Lives Matter movement had become so powerful that it was now essentially operating as a political party, and held just as much influence. If the recent verdict in the Derek Chauvin case is any indication, then BLM has already become more than a party; it is now its own institution. From the nationwide race riots of last summer through today to directly intimidating defense witnesses, there is no question that BLM made this verdict happen; even the jurors will (indirectly) admit to this.

When Americans fight about race or culture, the fight is almost always really about social class. And that shows up in today’s discussions about riots and policing.

The Daily Caller recently sent a video correspondent to Brooklyn Center, Minn., scene of many police-shooting-related riots, and to Washington, DC, home of America’s ruling class, and asked people in both places when and if rioting was justified. The answers differed sharply.

When a white police officer in Ohio shot and killed Ma’Khia Bryant, stopping her from plunging a butcher knife into the chest of an unarmed black teenager, the racial melodrama that is destroying the very fabric of American society reached what the “woke” refer to as an “inflection point.” At that moment, the narrative of the national lynch mob – verdict first, due process be damned – collided with an impossible reality: a white cop saving the life of a black child. Unable to resolve this dilemma, the woke mob simply refused to see it.

One of the more insane developments from the tragic shooting death of knife wielding Ma’Khia Bryant in Columbus, Ohio, has been the emergence of a desperate fantasy from the political left:

A North Carolina prosecutor said Andrew Brown Jr. hit law enforcement officers with his car before they opened fire, while a judge ordered a 10-day delay for the release of body camera footage in his fatal shooting on April 21.

District Attorney Andrew Womble told a judge at a hearing Wednesday he disagreed with a characterization by attorneys for the family of Brown that his vehicle was stationary when the shooting started, citing body camera footage he saw.

The video showed Brown’s car made contact with law enforcement twice before gunfire was heard on the video, Womble claimed, according to WSOC-TV.

A Los Angeles-based jail reform group led by BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors spent nearly $26,000 for “meetings” at a luxury Malibu beach resort in 2019, according to campaign finance records reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“To Serve and Protect” is more than a mere police slogan – it is a police duty. And in the case of the shooting of 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant, Officer Nicholas Reardon was clearly carrying out his duty to protect the life of another.

Details regarding the shooting from police authorities continue to remain scarce, though Brown had a 180-page rap sheet that dates back to May 1988

Attorneys for the family of Andrew Brown, a black man whom police shot and killed during a drug warrant arrest on Wednesday, said an autopsy concluded he was hit five times before he succumbed to his wounds.

The legal team hired an independent pathologist to conduct an autopsy, which found that Brown was shot five times, including twice on the arm and once in the back of the head, the team said at a Tuesday press briefing. The round that struck Brown’s skull was purportedly the one that killed him, and the other two shots were not mapped out by the lawyers.
