The former mayor of an Italian town who revitalised his community by welcoming and integrating migrants has been sentenced to more than 13 years in jail for abetting illegal migration and for “irregularities” in managing the asylum seekers.
Domenico Lucano, 63, known locally as Mimmo, the former mayor of Riace, a tiny hilltop town in the southern Calabria region, was put under house arrest in 2018 for allegedly abetting illegal immigration, embezzlement, and fraud.
The French government has said it is slashing the number of visas available for people from Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia, complaining that those countries are not taking back the migrants that France does not want to keep.
On Tuesday, government spokesman Gabriel Attal told French Europe 1 radio that Paris was taking action against its former North African colonies as they were refusing to take back illegal migrants sent home by the French authorities.
Take all of the imagery you have seen of the over 14,000 Haitian migrants camped under an international bridge in the small Texas border town of Del Rio and add the complications of disease, public excrement, unbearable heat, and heightened frustrations. Yesterday, when writing about the conflicting stories coming out of the Del Rio Haitian encampment, I concluded my analysis with an assumption. “There’s more to this story than we’re being told.” A number of things being reported about how the Biden administration has been dealing with more than 14,000 Haitians, particularly the aggressive tactics being employed and the rapid deportation schedule, simply didn’t add up. Part of that just comes down to the math.
Angry scenes broke out at Haiti’s main airport after migrants were deported to the country from the US.
On Tuesday, migrants at the airport in Port-au-Prince rushed back towards the plane they had arrived on, while others threw shoes at the jet.
Last weekend, the US started flying out migrants from a Texas border town which has seen an influx in recent weeks.

Parroting the Biden White House’s use of “horrific” to describe the images coming out of Del Rio, Texas Monday, ABC and CBS drew viewers’ attention to the crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border. But no, they weren’t talking about the nearly 15,000 Haitian illegals living under the international bridge in squalid conditions. They were spreading misinformation and lies about Border Patrol agents purportedly using “whips” against the people trying to cross the river.

Thousands of Haitian migrants have begun streaming back across the Rio Grande river to Mexico after the Biden administration said it will step up deportation flights to return them to the Caribbean nation.

DEL RIO, Texas — The Biden administration has requested that the Pentagon send military forces to the southern border to get control of the deteriorating situation, according to the secretary of Homeland Security.
The admission was the first time Alejandro Mayorkas has confirmed that DHS is seeking the Pentagon’s help. It comes amid a crisis in south-central Texas, where at least 15,000 migrants illegally crossed by the Del Rio-Acuna International Bridge late last week.
While the president took a long weekend relaxing at the beach in Delaware, another self-imposed crisis blew up in his face.
The migrant shantytown under a concrete overpass in Del Rio, Texas, had ballooned to 15,000 souls, mainly Haitians. They were running out of food and water amid dangerously unsanitary conditions. With a pipeline of hundreds more flooding across the Rio Grande from Mexico every day, a humanitarian disaster was unfolding and the media were starting to pay attention.

Nearly a thousand migrants from Africa, Asia and the Middle East have attempted to cross the English Channel on small boats in just one day to illegally get into the United Kingdom. The record-breaking surge in illegal crossings is being facilitated by warm weather and calm seas.
The British government is struggling to stop the crossings — partly because of its need for cooperation from France. British authorities have repeatedly accused their French counterparts of not doing enough to stop small boats from leaving French territorial waters.
Although the UK has pledged to pay France tens of millions of pounds to stop migrants crossing the Channel, French naval vessels are accused of escorting small boats into British waters.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has imposed a no-fly zone for unmanned aircraft systems flying over a south Texas bridge after photos emerged showing thousands of illegal immigrants accumulating under it in recent days.
Images captured by The Epoch Times this week showed thousands of illegal immigrants congregating under the Del Rio Bridge in south Texas as they waited to be processed by Border Patrol.

I was in North Macedonia (then just Macedonia) in the spring of 2016 at the height of the migrant crisis. The otherwise politically inconspicuous Balkan country had been placed at the center of international affairs thanks to its geographic position on the route between the Middle East and Western Europe. Some migrants in Denmark will now be required to work 37 hours a week in order to receive welfare benefits.
It will be a requirement for those who have been on benefits for three to four years, and who have not reached a certain level of proficiency in Danish.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said the rules were directly aimed at women from “non-Western backgrounds” living on benefits.
Denmark has repeatedly tightened its immigration policies in recent years.
It now has some of the toughest rules in Europe, and has set a target of zero asylum applications.
What was promised as an investment, profit and a flourishing multiculturalism has instead led to more unemployment, segregation and a thriving gang culture, a high profile Sweden Democrat has claimed.
In a searing opinion piece titled “Immigration Created Barbarism”, Adam Marttinen of the parliamentary Justice Committee accused mass immigration of contributing to gangland violence and organised crime that swept the country.
